I consider myself a chocolate person. I love chocolate everything whether desserts or drinks, etc. And I was also fortunate to have married another chocoholic which makes our dessert life so very exciting.
A few weeks ago, I decided to bake a chocolate cake following a recipe that I found online. And this was after I baked quite a few bread recipes. All the breads came out delicious, however, they certainly lacked the sweetness of chocolate.
It was my first time to bake a chocolate cake and I was happy with the result because the recipe that I found was really easy and the cake was so good, too.
I didn’t make the frosting, though, because I just really wanted the cake as it came out; more added sweetness was unnecessary. I did have the frosting recipe that my late mother-in-law left behind in an index card box my hubby has. Maybe I’ll try it next time just for the sake of hubby’s nostalgia.
This was hubby’s slice. As you can see, he smothered it with powdered sugar. That was a trick his Mama showed him all those years ago when he was a little boy; for him, the more powdered sugar, the better. 🙂
I didn’t have powdered sugar on mine; same as my son.
The recipe was good for a 9 x 13 inch pan and we had it all for ourselves…the three of us.
I liked how moist the cake was. That was really what I wanted.
Now I’m thinking about baking this chocolate cake again.
Well, I’m actually thinking about baking another dessert too and it’s chocolatey as well. We’ll see. I’m torn. LOL.

I love brownies with powdered sugar on top! I had a teacher that used to bake those for us back in the 90s.
Nothing can be better than a piece of good chocolate cake. I have never been a good baker but trying this seems like a fun idea.
