The Blue Ridge Parkway is one of the most beautiful scenic drives you can take in America. And it’s especially delightful to drive during autumn when the leaves are showing off their beautiful fall colors.
We visited the parkway for the very first time in the autumn of 2011. It was mine and my son’s first experience of autumn (we have no fall season in the Philippines) and all its beauty because we arrived in the U.S. in late autumn of 2010 and the leaves were already gone.
I’ve shared about that trip here on the blog before. And I can’t help but reminisce that fun time we had because we drove through the parkway again a couple of weeks ago when we visited Mount Mitchell State Park.
I’ve already shared the fun that the hubs and I had on that trip, but before we found ourselves on top of Mount Mitchell, we feasted our eyes first on the beauty that the Blue Ridge Parkway was filled with.
It was such a beautiful day. The sun was shining, there were clear blue skies and the temp was in the 70’s. The perfect day for a road trip, for sure.
The photos sure did not do justice on how beautiful it was out there.
You go through quite a lot of tunnels on the Blue Ridge Parkway. I think we went through four of them that day.

We stopped at an overlook on our way home but we didn’t stay long because there were quite a few people there.

It was such an amazing time that the hubs and I had. I know that wasn’t the last time because there are more mountain vistas to visit in North Carolina that we have not explored, yet.

North Carolina does have some of the most beautiful fall leaves and scenic views. I love the drive to Asheville.
I love going for a drive to look at the leaves in the fall and it looks like this would be a great place to do it.
We love traveling on the Blue Ridge Parkway. We try to go that route several times a year. It takes longer but so worth the trip especially at this time of the year.

I have been on the Blue Ridge Highway before, it is beautiful! My in-laws always made sure to drive on it on their way to Florida.
That place is beyond the word beautiful and watching those blue skies gives you a relaxing feeling.
