Belated Happy Fourth of July!
Yesterday, America celebrated its 245th birthday. It was a gorgeous day with the temp in the 80’s so it definitely was a good day to celebrate America’s Independence Day for the people around here.

The flag photo was taken a few days ago, while we were sitting in the drive-through line of a restaurant waiting for our turn and watching a storm rolling in.
My in-laws invited us for a cookout, but the hubs had to work so I just enjoyed my day watching Christmas in July movies on the Hallmark Channel. And for dinner, using our fave food delivery app, we ordered delicious food from Chili’s. We love Mexican food so that’s what me and my son decided to get.
Here they are!
Margarita Grilled Chicken

This was so good. It had pico de gallo, tortilla chips, Mexican rice and steamed broccoli. I didn’t even get to eat all the chicken and some of the broccoli because it was just too much for my little tummy. 🙂
Carnitas Fajitas

My son’s choice. That’s pulled pork plus all the goodies. He said it was delicious, too.

This came with his fajitas as well.
The city didn’t have fireworks display last year because of the pandemic, but they had it last night. We missed it, but some people around the neighborhood also had their own fireworks display that we could hear from the house and see some behind the trees. Also, we had a front row sit watching the fireworks display in D.C. on TV. 🙂 It was spectacular!
It was just this past June 12th that my home country , the Philippines, celebrated their Independence Day. At one time the Philippines celebrated their Independence Day on July 4th, just as it’s done here in the U.S. That did change, however, but being a long, involved story, I won’t go into it. But now, having become an American citizen, I get to celebrate two days of freedom! It gets no better than that.
How about you? How was your Fourth of July celebration?
Everything looks so yummy, I plan on spending time with family.
Happy 4th of July! The food you mentioned sounds incredible. We had Texas Roadhouse!
Happy 4th July! It’s nice that it was celebrated with fireworks this year. It makes any event happier.
4th of July wasn’t really a celebration for us this year. I’ve done a lot of research and educating myself on America’s history further than what we were taught in school and I was just feeling a little unpatriotic this year if I’m being honest. But I’m glad other people got to spend the day with their families and friends and have some fun 🙂
Thanks for sharing about your day, the foods looks so great!
The food looks delicious. I love fajitas. We should have them more often here as my family quite enjoy them.
I am glad that you had a beautiful celebration and enjoyed it!
I’d definitely choose carnitas fajitas anytime, too. i love pulled pork plus it’s great with rice.
That food sure does look amazing. I need some of that. Yum! What a great way to celebrate.
