My son is a fan of Chef Gordon Ramsay. He watches his cooking videos regularly. Gordon Ramsay also has a show on National Geographic called Uncharted. I’d never heard of the show before until a local website shared an episode where he visited the Smokey Mountains of North Carolina, right here in my own back yard. So, I recorded it on our DVR and watched it with my son the following day.
In the show, Gordon Ramsay competed with a local chef. The local chef prepared a stuffed trout and that’s when I got the idea for this. They didn’t share the trout recipe on TV, so I decided to create this baked stuffed trout using the recipe that I have for Pinaputok na Tilipia (Popped Tilapia), a Filipino favorite.
It actually turned out good and was so yummy. Even my “can-be” picky son said it was delicious. Good thing our local grocery had this one whole trout. I thought I’d never find one so it was a delight to see this at the store.
The fish was already gutted so I just had to clean it with running water.
Here’s the recipe for you to try:
Ingredients:
- I medium-sized Trout
- 5 grape tomatoes, quartered
- 1 small red onion, chopped
- 1 tsp. ground ginger
- 1 tbsp. lemon juice
- 2 tsp. salt
- 2 tbsp. butter, softened at room temperature, divided
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
- Line baking sheet with aluminum foil.
- Rub both sides of the trout with 1 tsp. of salt.
- In a bowl, combine all the ingredients except for 1 tbsp. of butter.
- Stuff the cavity of the trout with the mixture.
- Melt remaining butter and pour on trout.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes.
- Enjoy!
It is really easy to prepare and yet so flavorful.
Have you tried preparing baked stuffed trout before?
