Mango Float is a popular dessert in the Philippines. My sister would always make it when I was still there. I don’t know if she’s still making it now.
Anyway, the hubs and I were at the grocery store last week when my son called and asked me to buy all the ingredients to make a mango float. He saw a video on TikTok and wanted to make it. He remembered having it back in our hometown and was craving for it.
So I got him all the ingredients and he made this a couple of nights ago.
Here’s how to do it if you want to give it a try yourself. It is so easy to make and you only need four items.
Ingredients:
- 2 cups heavy whipping cream
- 1/2 cup condensed milk
- 1 box honey graham crackers
- 5 ripe mangoes, cubed
Instructions:
- Cut the mangoes in cubes. Set aside.
- Using a mixer, beat the heavy whipping cream until it doubles in volume.
- Mix in the condensed milk using a spatula.
- In a 9 x 7 baking dish, spread a little of the mixture of heavy cream and condensed milk, just enough to cover the bottom of the dish.
- Add 1/3 of the mangoes.
- Top with graham crackers.
- Repeat procedure until all ingredients are used.
- Finished with crumbled honey graham crackers on top.
- Cover with plastic wrap and chill in the fridge overnight.
- Enjoy!
You can actually add more mangoes if you want and use a different flavored graham crackers. I remember my sister used the original graham crackers in hers. They only had the honey graham crackers at the grocery store, not original grahams, so that was what we used. But it was still delicious.
And that’s how it looks after you do all the layers. Yum!
Calling this a float confused my Hubs for his memory of a float was the kind he used to get at the drug store when he was a kid, either a Coke or root beer float. Same idea of a yummy treat, just a different culture, and he absolutely loved the taste of a Filipino float!
Have you tried making or having mango float before?
Happy Foodie Friday, friends!
