Last year, I made drinking more water a goal. But unfortunately, I was a hundred miles shy from succeeding with that goal. It was just always hard for me to drink more water. Or maybe I just wasn’t pushing myself enough to just do it.
But I’m eager to be successful with that goal so I put it on my list of goals again this year. Halfway through the year, and I was still struggling in succeeding with that goal.
Then something happened.
The Headache
I began suffering headaches in the right side of my head. I’d never had that kind of headache before. It was just always on the left side of my head and it wasn’t that painful. And the ache radiated to my right cheeks, to my gums down to my neck then my shoulder. It surely wasn’t tolerable. I took ibuprofen every time it hit, but there were times that even that didn’t help.
A Visit to My Doctor
Since I hadn’t had my annual check-up yet, I decided to call for an appointment and find out from my doctor what’s going on. Could the headache be an underlying symptom of something serious? That really concerned me.
The Diagnosis
I was dehydrated.
But to be sure, they drew blood for some lab work. The nurse had to actually draw blood from both of my arms because it was taking forever for the syringes to fill. And she said dehydration could be the reason.
After a few days, the result of the blood work arrived and everything was normal.
The Hack That Made Me Drink More Water
So after that diagnosis, I decided to really get serious about this water business and bought this water bottle. And it was life changing.
This is a half gallon jug. I also got my son one but I got him the gallon jug. You can find the links to the water bottles on my Amazon Storefront. Link is on the sidebar.
Having this water jug is surely motivating and reminding me to drink more water. I used to drink water only when I felt thirsty. But having this jug makes me think of it and the water that I need to drink. I usually place it on the kitchen counter. I don’t like drinking super cold water because it gives me brain freeze.
A Happy Camper
I’ve had this jug for more than three weeks now, and guess what? I’ve not had the headache anymore. Staying hydrated was really a game changer for me. So, cheers to that!

Nice! I try to always have a glass of ice water with lemon beside me. It helps to drink water.

I think using a water bottle with little encouraging messages or reminders help keep me on track with how much water I drink in a day! I love them!

Having that kind of jug is a great idea. And effective since you’ll get anxious to finish it.

That’s also a goal of mine..! It’s really hard to accomplish especially when you’re working from home.

Nice information, I’ll keep them in my mind. I do admit that I tend to forget water especially when I’m in the office.

I so relate with your goal! I always aim to take at least the minimum 8 glasses of water per day but I always fail! Hope all is well with you!

I call them “accountability bottles” they really help a whole lot. Asides that it reminds you to drink water, you can also measure how much you have consumed
Ruth I says
I think I need that kind of jug too. I always forget to drink water even after eating and yes, I also experience headaches. I will try to drink more.

That was a really helpful bottle because it reminds you always how much water you need your body to consume.
