My son loves food as much as I do and he also loves watching cooking videos. We often talk about cooking videos that he has come across and wanted to try. One day he said he was going to order the world’s best steak, the Japanese A5 Wagyu.
I’d heard of Wagyu before but I didn’t know that it is considered the world’s best steak. Not to mention, I also had no idea that it was SO expensive! So when he told me the price, I was like, “Are you serious?!
After knowing the price, I had to do my research on the best way to cook it because I sure didn’t want to mess up cooking this pricey piece of meat.
The World’s Best & Most Expensive Steak
Here’s the steak. It was only 0.81 lb. and cost more than $70.00 in U.S. currency. At that rate it goes at $90.25 a pound. That’s almost a week’s worth of groceries. But back in my home country, the Philippines, that would be almost 4,700 Pesos.
Here’s the steak after I cooked it. So how did I prepare it? Here you go!
How I Did It:
- Take the beef out of the fridge 3 hours before cooking and let it set in room temperature.
- An hour before cooking, season both sides of the steak generously with salt.
- Put a non-stick pan on stove at medium-high heat.
- Sear one side of the steak for 3 minutes. Flip the steak, and then cook for 2 minutes.
- Let it rest for a few minutes then serve!
You don’t even need to use oil in cooking the A5 Wagyu steak because of the fat content.
Medium Rare
To really enjoy the deliciousness of this steak, it should be cooked medium rare. I always have my steak cooked well done, but this sure changed that notion. The steak was super tender, so juicy, and so, so good! Now I know why it’s the world’s best steak!
So, there’s our Japanese A5 Wagyu steak experience. I must say it was an expensive experience, but it was definitely worth the price. Besides, my son was the one who paid for it. He did say he just really wanted to try it and will never order again until he becomes a millionaire. LOL.
Have you had a Japanese A5 Wagyu steak before?

I have never ordered a steak that expensive before. I’m the type who doesn’t like to pay more than $10 but that’s hard to find now. So far the most expensive steak I’ve purchased was $17 dollars. It was delicious but it’s not something I buy very often.

Wagyu beef’s marbling causes it high costs too, it can go upto 200$ a pound, so this is a good buy! ^_^ Gotta love it for the melt-in-your-mouth goodness. Enjoy!
