I have shared about hubby’s good friend Lewis, previously, and that he’s back in town for a vacation. We’ve already got together – like what we always do when he’s around. And like I mentioned in my previous post about him regarding our dinner at our favorite restaurant to hang out when he’s here, The Lobster Trap, we went out again for a night of catching up and good food. And this time his wife was with him and it was our turn to give them a treat.
Going to this Mexican restaurant wasn’t in our plan at all. Being the seafood lovers that we all are, the hubs and I decided to take them to this newly-opened oyster house in the city. We’ve never been there before and we didn’t know they only accept reservations. So we left there and drove around downtown not knowing where to go exactly.
Then I thought of the restaurant that the hubs and I love, the Corner Kitchen, in Biltmore Village. But when we got there, the waiting was 45 minutes to an hour. That is way too long of a wait for our hungry tummies. LOL.
Then I thought of this Mexican restaurant, The Cantina. I remember reading before that it’s one of the best in the city and we’d never been there before. It’s also located in Biltmore Village and only a walking distance from the Corner Kitchen. I called first before we went because they might only be accepting reservations. Gladly, they didn’t. We had to wait for 15 minutes, though, but it seemed like we didn’t wait that long.
Here are the Mex food that we enjoy. Mine and the hubs’ to be precise. I only got to take snaps of our food and drink (discreetly) because I was too shy to take pics of their food. đŸ™‚
Orange Juice
The three of them had sweet tea and I had orange juice.
Beef Enchiladas
This is the hubs’ most favorite Mex food and this is what he usually orders when we’re at a Mexican restaurant.
Steak Fajitas
There are a lot of choices in the menu, but the steak fajitas was the one that appealed to me. Here’s the side that come with it.
And here’s the steak with all the vegetables. This serving was way too much. It is almost good for 2 to 4 people. I actually had to bring home a lot which I had for lunch the following day.
Martini
The hubs’ first ever martini. He said he’d never had martini before so Lewis told him to give it a try. He’s more of a whiskey person. He actually said it’s good. I didn’t take a sip, just smelled it. đŸ™‚
Forgot exactly what Lewis and his wife ordered, but we all enjoyed our food. No wonder this place got good reviews. Their food is delicious. And we didn’t wait that long for our food to be served, too.
Do you like Mex food?
Happy Foodie Friday, friends!

The best restaurant we have here that has the closest to true Mexican entrees would have to be Compadres and they are still no where near as good as traditional.
