Sisig is a popular Filipino dish that could either be served as an appetizer or an entrée. It is one of my favorites, but I haven’t had it here in the U.S. until my friend who lives in Michigan shared her Sisig plate on Facebook and gave me the idea.
I asked her for the recipe only to find out that she went the easy way by using this Sisig mix. I had to order it immediately from an online Filipino store and I’m so glad I did. It was easy to prepare with little ingredients and was so good. Even my husband and son who both can be picky really enjoyed the dish.
Please bear with me and excuse the messy bowl. It was where I dumped and mixed everything and didn’t have the chance to transfer the food to a cleaner plate because my son was already hungry and couldn’t wait to give it a try.
He also loves the dish but we both haven’t had it since 2018 when we had our vacation to my hometown in the Philippines.
Sisig can be prepared in few different ways. With eggs or with the use of pork head. Decided to use pork chops with this one and didn’t add eggs. I just followed the recipe included on the back of the mix pack. It is supposed to be drizzled with lime, but I forgot to grab one at the supermarket so I thought I would use lemon instead. But after mixing everything, it was already sour for our taste so we skipped the lemon.
I grilled the pork chops using my Ninja Foodi Indoor Grill. Got to love this kitchen appliance which was a gift from the hubs.
Again, please excuse the messy bowl. 🙂
How about you? Have you had Sisig before?
Happy Foodie Friday, friends!
