I love the smell and taste of a freshly baked bread. I actually baked a lot during the pandemic and I rounded them all up in my post, It’s All About Freshly Baked Breads of 2020.
Recently, I came across a video on TikTok of homemade artisan bread. I hadn’t tried to bake artisan bread, not to mention, I hadn’t tried baking bread using a dutch oven, the newest addition to my kitchen gadgets. So I grabbed the opportunity and used my dutch oven to prepare this homemade artisan bread, much to my delight!
This bread is so easy to prepare and with very few ingredients. And here’s the result! Isn’t it pretty?
I used my stand mixer to mix the dough compared to the TikTok creator who did it manually. I also let the dough sit overnight in the refrigerator compared to what she said: wait 5 to 8 hours for best results. I could have done it that way but it was too late in the evening to bake it after that 5 to 8 mark. So I decided to just let it sit in the fridge overnight. I’m not sure if it is recommended, but my bread still turned out good.
And it definitely was delicious!
My husband likes it smothered with butter, the way he learned to eat bread when young. However, he’d never had freshly baked homemade bread for that was one recipe not left behind by his country culinary chef of a Mama, who left behind dozens of recipes on index cards in a storage box. My son and I are okay without butter. I do love dunking a slice in my coffee. Yum!
