Leche Flan is my favorite Filipino dessert. And the hubs who had never even heard of it before we got together, also considers it one of his faves. I haven’t had it in a while because I couldn’t find a mold here in the U.S. I also forgot to purchase one while we were in the Philippines a few years ago.
One day, I came across a Leche Flan recipe video on TikTok. So I decided to google Leche Flan mold and was I delighted when I came across one at a Filipino online store. I never thought about checking them before.
The recipe is something different from the one I followed before. But what gave me the urge to try this recipe is because of the three ingredients which include egg yolks, condensed milk and water. I have never tried preparing a Leche Flan with water before. I found it interesting so here’s the result.
Please excuse the slit in the middle. It is supposed to look smooth like this one here, but I messed up when I flipped it over from the mold using a plate. Mishaps like this happen when you’re cooking, right? 🙂
But despite the imperfection, I still want to share it because it still tasted like Leche Flan and it was so good!
The looks certainly don’t matter to me. For as long as it’s delicious then that’s the most important thing. Do you feel the same way?

If you check the video, I didn’t cook the sugar as long as he did. That’s why mine looked lighter in color compared to his. But I prefer it this way.

I haven’t ever had leche flan. It looks similar to a cheesecake in your photo. I need to try it. I’m with you, it doesn’t have to look 100 percent as long as it tastes good.
