Hello Hello! How is everybody doing?
I was MIA for more than a month, and I guess you are wondering why? Well, we had a wonderful month long vacation to my home country, the Philippines. Yeah! We left around mid-March and arrived back just a few days ago. I am still jet lagged and tired from our trip back here to the U.S., but I am so itching to blog. My last post was this, and I missed this little blog of mine and I am excited to share all the details about our trip…one story at a time.
Let’s start with our more or less 33 hour trip (including layovers) from North America to Asia!
We left Asheville for Atlanta with a one-hour layover in Atlanta for a connecting flight to Incheon, South Korea. I thought the one-hour layover would not be enough, but we took the train to our gate and had plenty of time before boarding.
Incheon
After more than 15 hours, we touched down at Incheon, South Korea. It was our first time at this airport and, boy, I loved their airport. It was so pretty!
Look at those beautiful flowers. Yes, they’re real! And the airport was so clean. I think it’s newly built.
Manila
We had a 2-hour layover in Incheon and after more than 4 hours on the plane, we touched down in Manila at almost midnight. We had to stay overnight for our trip at around 6:00 AM the following day to my hometown, General Santos, familiarly known as GenSan.
And there’s the gorgeous Manila sunrise.
GenSan
We were approaching my hometown’s airport when I took this photo. Aren’t those mountains adorable? General Santos is just like Asheville, surrounded by mountains.
We touched down in GenSan at exactly 7:50 AM. A little early from our expected ETA of 8:10 AM.
My sister, my brother-in-law and my niece were already waiting for us when we arrived.
It was so great to see them again, and feel the heat and humidity of my hometown. The three of us didn’t have enough sleep and we were so tired from the long trip, but it is always worth it to see my family again. It definitely felt so good to be back!
And this is just the beginning of our one-month vacation. There is more stories to tell and I can hardly wait to share.
