If there’s one thing that we look forward to enjoying while visiting our home country – aside from family time, of course – is the food. Anyone who is not living in their homeland can relate to what I am saying, for sure. So we made sure to really get a taste of some delicious foods that are not available here in the U.S., even fast food.
Jollibee
This fast food restaurant is kind of the Filipino version of McDonald’s. As opposed to Ronald McDonald, Jollibee’s mascot is a bee wearing a chef’s hat. They already have branches in the U.S. but none near us.
My favorite to have from Jollibee is their Burger Steak and Peach Mango Pie. My Aunt had fried chicken and soup.
The steak comes with a cup of rice. I’m literally drooling while looking at this photo again.
McDonald’s
McDonald’s is popularly known in the Philippines as McDo. Us Filipinos gave it this nickname. Here in the U.S., the Hubs calls it Mac’s Snack Shack.
There are items on their menu that are only available in the Philippines. On the other hand, there are also items on the U.S. menu that are not available in the Philippines.
My Aunt ordered the Chicken McDo with rice, and I had the Mushroom Pepper Steak. I forgot what beverages we had, but I think I had juice and my Aunt had soda.
It was my first time to have the Mushroom Pepper Steak and that wasn’t the last time. I really liked how creamy it was. So good!
Taps & Mix
This restaurant is not a fast food joint. They are known for serving delicious breakfast combos.
Their breakfast combo always has a cup fried or steamed rice plus a sunny-side-up egg and another protein dish. There are a lot of choices but I opted for the Lechon Kawali.
There you go! Can I order all of them again, please?! 🙂
Happy Foodie Friday, friends!
