Taal Volcano is one of the Philippines’ popular tourist spots. It is located in the province of Batangas which is about a 2-hour drive south of Manila, the capital of the Philippines. The volcano is situated in the middle of Taal Lake which makes it so unique among others.
I’ve heard about Taal Volcano and had seen pictures of it all my life, but I’d never seen it in person. So when we decided to stay with my husband’s best school-year’s friend, Lewis, and his wife Cora, in Batangas, I asked if we could go visit Taal which is about an hour drive from where they live. The hospitable people that they are, they agreed and we all went that Sunday.
My son took this photo and this was taken from the restaurant where we had our lunch. There are many restaurants located on top of the mountain overlooking Taal Lake with the Taal Volcano in the middle. As you can see in the picture, it was a little foggy but you can still pretty much see the volcano.
After lunch, we drove to other parts of Batangas and came across a good and better view of the volcano. It was amazing to see it so close like this.
It is grayish in color and that’s because it’s covered in ashes. Taal Volcano is still a very active volcano and has had several violent eruptions in the past. The last time it erupted was just last year, March 26, 2022.
There’s the hubs mesmerized by the view.
It was such a fascinating experience to see Taal Volcano. I finally got to check it off my bucket-list after all these years.
How about you? Have you been to Taal Volcano?

Volcanoes are fascinating to see in person. When we stayed in Costa Rica, we sat on our hotel balcony and watched the smoke pour out of one.
