As I mentioned in my December Currently post, I’m going to share more about the Overnight French Toast that we had on Christmas morning and here is the story.
It wasn’t the first time that I had prepared this delicious breakfast casserole. I prepared it one Christmas morning before, too and I got the recipe from the Magnolia Table cookbook by Joanna Gaines.
This is so easy to prepare and with few ingredients needed as well.
I like the fact that you can prepare this the night before and just store it in the fridge. Then pop it in the oven the following morning.
With that being said, you can just focus on the fun of opening Christmas presents and digging in your stocking without having to worry about preparing breakfast because it is already cooking in the oven.
The supermarket where my son and I went to didn’t have the Italian loaf bread. They only had the round ones. The loaf would have fit perfectly in the baking dish, but I just had to make the round ones fit.
The recipe also called for roasted pecans, but I forgot to grab some at the supermarket so, I just skipped it. I do like pecans so I’ll make sure I’ll grab some next time I’m going to prepare this dish again. It was still delicious, though, even without the pecans.
This Overnight French Toast casserole is really good. Even my son said so. My husband on the other hand wasn’t really into digging into this casserole. He just had the ham.
You can store leftovers in the fridge for up to two days. We had leftovers so it was what I had for breakfast on the morning after Christmas and the morning after that.
How about you? What did you have for Christmas morning? Have you tried this dish before?
Happy Foodie Friday, friends!

I have never heard of something like this before. Sounds like a fun recipe for weekends and holidays. I like that it looks rich and has some texture to it (not too gooey).
