I have always been a fan of Mike Rowe. He is just an excellent narrator. He is actually considered to be America’s favorite storyteller. That being said, I never had second thoughts about watching his new film and share all about it.

Something to Stand For is a film that tell stories of American Heroes. If you love true stories, you will love the tales of these brave men and women who gave us something to stand for. And they are all narrated by Mike Rowe.

The film share about stories from the American Revolution, World War II, the Civil Rights movement, and beyond. And Mike Rowe talks about all these stories while also taking an epic journey into the heart of Washington, D. C.

So thankful for the opportunity to be given the chance to watch the advance screening of Something to Stand For. I’ve learned so much about history from watching this film. And they were all fascinating to know.

My husband who is so into history also enjoyed this film big time. Since my arrival here in the U. S. he, being such the history buff he is, has made it a point to introduce me to many historical facts and taken me to so many historical sites and locations.

We visited Washington, D.C., the Civil War battlefield at Antietam in Maryland, and the cities of Charleston, SC, Savannah, GA, Baltimore, MD and Nashville, TN. And to top it all off, I got to spend time in New York city during the Christmas season, a trip to the Big Apple that most people dream of, especially immigrants!

In Baltimore, we got to visit Fort McHenry, the site that inspired the National Anthem. We also made a journey to the tiny town of Flat Lick, KY to see the area where his great-great-great grandfather served with the Union Army during the Civil War.

And I was so excited to hear mention of my home island in the Philippines, Mindanao, in this movie. So with the help of my husband and this fantastic movie, I’ve become greatly educated in the history of my new home-away-from-home country of which I am now a citizen.
