One fine day a couple of weeks ago, the hubs and I made a trip to the newly-opened Asian Market here in the city. It was our first time to visit the store and it is the biggest Asian Market we have here. We bought quite enough goodies that lasted for more or less two weeks and it included a slice of pork belly.
This slice of pork belly is actually just a third of what we actually bought. I sliced it in three because it’s only the hubs and I. That slice may look small, but it is more than enough for the two of us because we also had veggies and rice (for me) and mashed potatoes (for him) on our plates.
This is the first time that I thought of preparing the pork belly using the air fryer. I roasted it in the oven before, but thought about air frying it after I came across a video on TikTok. And I like it air fried as opposed to roasted, to be honest.
Here is how I prepared it.
Ingredients:
- A slice of pork belly
- Bay leaves
- Salt
- Pepper corns
- Oil spray
Instructions:
- In a pot, add the slice of pork belly, bay leaves (I added 3), a good amount of salt, a good amount of pepper corns and water, just enough to submerge the pork belly.
- Bring the pot to a boil and let it boil until the pork belly turns brown.
- Remove the pork belly from the pot and pat dry with paper towel.
- Spray air fryer basket with cooking spray. Add pork belly then spray pork belly with cooking spray as well.
- Cook the pork belly in the air fryer at 300 degrees F for 20 minutes.
- Then continue to cook in the air fryer at 400 degrees F for another 20 minutes.
- Enjoy!
Can you tell how crispy it is on the top? The skin was really crispy and the entire slice of pork belly was so flavorful. Now I’m thinking that we need to make a trip to the Asian Market again to buy another slice.
How about you? Have you tried an air fryer crispy pork belly before?
Happy Foodie Friday, friends!
