We spent nine days in Charlotte, North Carolina after Hurricane Helene happened. Thanks to my husband’s good friend who checked on us and offered to pick us up and welcomed us into his beautiful home.
We got to meet some of their neighbors and had dinner with them a couple of times. Other than that, we also got to go out with my husband’s friend and his wife, his Aunt, his nephew and his nephew’s friend to a nearby restaurant. I was also craving for Filipino food one time so the hubs and I drove to the nearest one.
Here are the food spots in Charlotte that we got to sample.
CharBar No. 7
Located in Mint Hill, this restaurant was where we all went one Friday evening for dinner. Their menu has a lot to offer and they have live music as well.
I ordered the fish and chips. It is beer battered whitefish filet served with chip fries, cranberry kale slaw and tartar sauce on the side. Everything in this entire plate was delicious. I didn’t get to eat all of the fish, though because I was already full.
I just had water with it. That was all what I wanted to drink at that moment.
The hubs ordered their prime rib French dip. I didn’t get to take a photo but it was thinly shaved prime rib steak with provolone and horseradish sauce on a hoagie roll. It also came with au jus for dipping.
Hubby’s good friend also ordered the appetizers of fried pickles and beer battered mushrooms for all of us to share.
Manila Grill
This restaurant on the other hand was located at a Food Court in Pineville. That Sunday after getting some stuff that we needed at the supermarket, the hubs and I drove there and enjoy my homeland’s cuisine.
I had fried bangus (milk fish) plus rice, salted egg and atchara (pickled papaya). I also ordered pinakbet (meat veggie stew with shrimp paste) but brought it home and forgot to take a photo.
The hubs had lechon kawali (crispy pan-fried roasted pork) with rice.
There was an Asian market connected to the food court so we perused the store afterwards. I was just curious and wanted to see what they had. We left empty handed from the store but with a full belly from the Filipino food that we just enjoyed.
Happy Foodie Friday, friends!
