It being my favorite time of the year, it is always bittersweet for me when the holidays come to an end. But I also look forward to what the new year brings. It always feels like a fresh start with a brand-new year.
Over the past three years, I have been sharing the highlights of the previous year here on the blog. I started it in 2021, then continued in 2022 and then 2023. And I’m continuing it this year and that’s because it is such a joy for me to reminisce about the good things that the previous year brought us. I know there are always hiccups but such is life; it is not perfect. But I am focusing on the blessings like I always do and simply deal with the curveballs that have been thrown my way.
At the start of 2024, the words that I focused on was the verse from Matthew 6:34 which says, “Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”
And that’s exactly what I did. Worrying about tomorrow will steal today’s enjoyment so I lived each day as it came and just went with the flow. And I am happy to report, that our 2024 was full of joy and excitement. Things just worked out in our favor and I couldn’t be more thankful and grateful!
We did a lot of trips in 2024 and those were the highlights of our year because each of those trip was one for the books!
South Carolina
In February, we took a road trip to Columbia, South Carolina which is more than a two-hour drive from where we live. We stayed there for four days and those days were filled with different kinds of emotions. But it was there that we also felt as the proudest parents in the whole world. That feeling couldn’t be beat and I will cherish those special moments in my lifetime.
North Carolina
In July, my husband’s best friend, Lewis paid U.S. a visit again and he never fails to visit us when he is the country. He would always treat us to dinner and lunch and this time, he took us on another road trip just like what he did in 2023. We explored other counties of North Carolina that we’d never been to. And those places were also devastated by Hurricane Helene in September.
Speaking of Hurricane Helene, it was one of the curveballs that was thrown at us last year. But it was also the reason why we made a trip to Charlotte. Thanks to my husband’s other friend who picked us up and welcomed us into his beautiful home. He definitely saved us!

Also in July, the hubs and I took a road trip to Augusta. It was our first time there although we’ve heard of the place before because of the Masters Tournament which the hubs always watches. We went there for the first time to pick our son up. He was there for more or less five months. Then we went back after two weeks to take him to Augusta Regional Airport for his trip to South Korea.

Washington, D.C.
In October, we took a very important trip to the nation’s capital. I planned and booked this trip in July and that October schedule was just perfect because we were still reeling from Hurricane Helene.
South Korea
Our son left for South Korea in July and he is having a blast spreading his wings. We are missing him more than ever but my heart is also happy that he is loving and enjoying it there with his new-found friends and work. He has his goals and aspirations in life and I am more than happy to support and pray for him every step of the way.
