We made a very important trip to the nation’s capital in October last year. You know that already if you have read my post, ‘Things to See in Washington, D.C.‘ and as I mentioned there, I am going to talk more about the trip. There are just so much to share and I couldn’t put them all in one post. I don’t like reading those mile long posts so I’m breaking mine down…one short story at a time.
The Hotel
We stayed at Washington Hilton for 4 days and 3 nights for a great deal – paying only 30% of the total cost. It came with a catch which we were able to accomplish. It was no big deal. We even got free snacks.
This hotel is not only stunning, it is also considered as a National Historic Place. We had no idea until the front desk clerk told us the night that we checked in. You can read all the details below this image on why it’s considered as one.
The sign says:
On March 30, 1981, President Ronald Reagan marked the 100th visit to Washington Hilton by a sitting U.S. President. Reagan had been invited to speak in the International Ballroom at a meeting of the North America’s Building Trades Unions. Upon exiting the hotel along T Street at 2:27 p.m., Reagan was struck and wounded by a gunshot fired from John Hinckley, Jr., who had been waiting outside. Gunshots also wounded Reagan’s Press Secretary James Brady, D.C. police office Thomas Delahanty, and Secret Service agent Timothy McCarthy. Reagan recovered from the incident and visited the hotel several times afterwards.
The Room
With a king-size bed, the room is simple yet elegant. The hotel was recently renovated and you can tell from the hallways and the lobby that it was. They all look relatively new.
The View
We may not have had the million-dollar view from our room but I didn’t mind at all. There is just this overwhelming feeling of different kinds of emotions when you are in Washington, D.C. I can’t describe the feeling exactly but knowing that you are at the nation’s capital just feels different.
We visited D.C. for the main reason of accomplishing my appointment at the Embassy of the Philippines. But we had time to check what fun sights D.C. has to offer after my appointment so we did just that. And we absolutely enjoyed our stay in this historic retreat.

You got such a great deal with the hotel, no idea how you managed to snag such a good discount. Sometimes views are a nice thing to have, but when you’re going to be out and about exploring all the time I don’t think they’re always neccessary x
