I had the opportunity to watch this riveting film over the weekend. As an immigrant myself, although I didn’t go through what they went through, this movie deeply moved me.
Between Borders is based on a true story of faith and hope of the Petrosyan family set amidst great oppression. They are outcasts wherever they go in a crumbling Soviet Union. Their Armenian heritage marks them for discrimination both at home in Azerbaijan and in Russia. But in the shadow of exile, they never lost hope…it became their home.
This film stars Elizabeth Tabish from The Chosen and Elizabeth Mitchell from Lost and The Santa Clause movies.
It is heartbreaking to see what people had to go through because of racism. They were mistreated to the point that they feared for their lives. But they never lost hope and it is heartwarming to see that they were able to get what they hoped for.
