In my, “Things to See in Washington, D.C.” post, I listed all the places that we were able to see when we were in D.C. last October. But there are so many photos to share and things to talk about in each of those places so I decided to write more about each of them.
Let’s start with Arlington National Cemetery since it’s the first place that we visited.
This is the entrance to the cemetery. We drove to the cemetery from the hotel that Friday afternoon and it took us less than 15 minutes to get there. They have parking available but it’s not free. I forgot how much we paid for but I know it wasn’t bad.
There were quite a lot of people that afternoon but everyone was being respectful and quiet.
Aside from all the rows upon rows of headstones, Arlington National Cemetery is a vast area that offers important landmarks for you to see. The map will show you where those landmarks or places are located. There were signs along the way, too. But I must admit, we still got confused which way to go. Good thing, there was a man there to answer our questions .
The place was so solemn and I had this mixed feeling of emotions while looking at all those headstones.
Just one of the statues that we saw.
We walked more than 4,000 steps after seeing all that we wanted to see at Arlington National Cemetery. It definitely was quite an exercise for the hubs and I. Also, the cemetery has hilly parts but there are benches around that you can sit and rest to catch your breath, like what we did. There are also water fountains everywhere which is awesome because you are definitely going to get thirsty after all the walk.
It was an amazing experience to finally be able to walk through Arlington National Cemetery. It was the first for the hubs and I.
How about you? Have you been to Arlington National Cemetery?
