Let’s be honest, most of us usually skip breakfast even though we know how necessary it is for our body, our health, and general well-being. Now let’s be even more honest – not only do we tend to skip breakfast, but also lunch and/or dinner! Well, it is about time to stop skipping meals and start making smoothies! Here are some super easy and very healthy recipes that you should definitely make this week!
The best part of making smoothies, besides the health benefits, is that is quick and easy to make, and you can always mix some kitchen finds, fruits and veggies from your kitchen into a delicious smoothie. Combine those tasty kitchen finds with some extra add-ins like avocados, protein powder (your favorite flavor), chia seeds or nuts.
Kale – berry smoothie
This recipe is one of the most popular ones because it has it all. Combine ¾ of a cup of coconut water with roughly chopped kale (1 cup), favorite frozen berries (also 1 cup), one medium-sized orange, a tablespoon of flax seeds and some nuts, whichever you prefer. This recipe will provide a good amount of fiber vitamins and minerals from kale, while coconut water will keep you hydrated. Antioxidants from orange and berries will affect your skin and keep it healthy and glowing, while nuts will add selenium and Iodine that will boost your immune system and protect it. You will adore this fruity smoothie that will keep you perfectly refreshed.
Dessert-like smoothie
If you have a sweet tooth and not a day goes by without craving for sweets – this one’s for you. This delightful dessert-like smoothie contains spinach, cherries (antioxidants) and cinnamon perfectly combined together, for all the sweets-lovers out there. Mix half the cup of frozen cherries, half the cup of spinach with just a pinch of fresh parsley with non-dairy milk; add a teaspoon of cacao and a teaspoon of honey and a half teaspoon of cinnamon. Serve it with coconut shreds on top, add a pinch of chia seeds and cinnamon and voila! An amazing, delicious smoothie you can grab to go!
Coconut-mango-chia smoothie
One of the best smoothie breakfast options is by far the yummy coconut-mango smoothie. Before preparing this amazing shake, allow chia seeds to soak in your fridge (you can put them in the evening and they will be ready for the breakfast). This will provide a little extra protein your body needs and boost your energy for the day. Soak two tablespoons of chia seeds overnight, shake well in the morning before mixing with other ingredients. Add a cup of Almond or Coconut milk, whichever you prefer to chia pudding, ½ teaspoon vanilla extract, frozen mango cubes (1 cup) and half the cup of shredded coconut. And yes, it is that simple to make this extraordinary tasty breakfast smoothie.
Heavenly pumpkin pie smoothie
When most of us think about the autumn, we usually visualize everything pumpkin! Well, that doesn’t mean that you can’t make this delicious pumpkin pie smoothie this summer and inspire yourself to stop skipping meals! It is creamy, it is healthy, it has a whole bunch of add-ins and you are going to love it! Blend half a cup of pumpkin puree with a quarter of a teaspoon of ginger, half teaspoon of coconut oil , ½ tablespoon of organic, raw honey and a ½ a cup of water or non-dairy milk. Blend a tablespoon of raw pumpkin seeds, half tablespoon of hemp seeds, add a ¼ teaspoon of cinnamon and ¼ teaspoon of nutmeg and combine with the liquid ingredients. The hemp seed will provide a complete protein which is essential for vegetarians or vegans. And yes, it is as delicious as it sounds, so make sure to stock up on canned or fresh pumpkin!
Stop skipping meals and start making delicious smoothies and try out these amazing recipes. As soon as you have a taste of one of these amazing flavors, it will inspire you to experiment and make your own recipes with your favorite ingredients. Keep in mind to ensure the right amount of protein through seeds and nuts and mix in some greens. Choose a healthy option for the perfect start of the day!
