Missing my native food while in a foreign country, I think it is already a given that I would surely indulge in Filipino food if I visit my home country, the Philippines. And that was what we did exactly when we made that unplanned trip last summer. I already shared a food trip here and here before. And you can read that post here why we had to make that trip. The main reason for the journey was sad, but I was still happy to see my family again and of course, eat all things Filipino.
The trip only lasted for two weeks. We had to make it short because the new school year for our son would begin soon. And on our last night there before departing for Manila, my sister, her husband and my niece (their daughter) took the whole family for a farewell dinner treat. The only people missing were my two brothers who had already left for Singapore and Canada.
Food Trip Plaza
This place only opened in August last year. It wasn’t there yet when we had our month-long vacation there in the summer of 2017. This place was amazing! This is definitely a food haven for foodies. It’s one huge place consisting of different stalls that offers different cuisines from all over the world. Other than Filipino food, they had American, Korean, Mexican and even Arabian. There was also a live band performing the whole night.
Tables and seats are placed in the middle of this huge covered area and you can get all the food you want and bring it to your table. You can also just wait at your table and they will deliver it to you.
So what did they get for us? Check below. They went over the top, for sure. And everything was so good.
Starter
Nachos
Soup
Sinigang na Hipon or Shrimp in Sour Soup

Hi Brianne. You may want to try my oven-roasted crispy pork belly. It’s basically the same. Here’s the link to the recipe: http://www.athousandcountryroads.com/2017/11/oven-roasted-crispy-pork-belly.html 🙂
Everything looks so good! I need to plan a visit here with the whole family. I’ll have to check where the location is first. Thank you!
Hi Ruth. It’s located in Gensan. 🙂
