As we do every year, we celebrated Thanksgiving at my brother-in-law’s house, but we had to have it a little later, on the 24th, Saturday, instead of the 22nd because my sister-in-law had to work. She is a nurse and we pretty well all know what her schedule can entail. And as always, my SIL was a gracious host and prepared a lot of delicious food.
With my brother-in-law’s family and us plus an invited family (a friend of one of my nephews), and a good friend of one of my nieces, we all gathered and chitchatted while enjoying the sumptuous food.
A Little Bit of Everything
This was what my plate looked like. 🙂 Do you mix all your food on one plate? I do, minus the dessert, of course. As you can see it’s a little bit of everything. There’s the turkey with the gravy, ham, biscuit and all the sides like corn, green bean casserole, sauteed brussels sprouts with butternut squash, mashed potato and stuffing. What did I miss? LOL.
Delectable Desserts
That plate may look small and the food may look not that much, but trust me, it filled my little tummy. I was so full that I had to wait a little while longer before diving into these desserts below.
Chocolate cake.
Cheesecake.
Pecan pie.
Jam Session
After everyone was done filling their tummies and chitchatting, it was now time for jamming. It’s always fun to listen to them play. I forgot what song they were playing here, but after this session, another niece joined them and while the girls sang, the boys played the guitar. The song they played was, “Somebody That I Used to Know” by Gotye.

It was definitely a happy Thanksgiving with good food and a great time spent with family.
How was your Thanksgiving? I hope it was wonderful!

Our Thanksgiving was nice. We went to my husband’s aunt’s house. She always fixes so much food!

The jam session brought back a lot of memories for me just now. I remember many a Thanksgiving when my dad would grab the guitar and start strumming and singing after the meal ended. I even remember going to Thanksgiving parties where he would sing with friends and make a big to do.

I love my food all mixed together. My husband, on the other hand, can’s stand any of it to touch. Glad you had a happy Thanksgiving. We did as well.

It looks like you guys had a lovely day, and those desserts all look so tasty! It’s nice that you got to spend time as a family, and the jam session would be a great way to get in quality time.
