Yesterday was one of those extra special days celebrated by couples that have found the joy of sharing a life together: a wedding anniversary. And Lynndee and I have now embarked on the journey down the road of our 9th year of being as one. But, of course, as the old adage goes, the journey of a thousand miles begins with one step. In our case, that first step is going out to a special place to eat and celebrate a new beginning. And what more special place could there be for us other than the Corner Kitchen in Biltmore Village?
Lynndee’s the one who discovered this neato locale when our local news did a spot telling of President Obama’s trip to our city with his wife Michelle. This had happened prior to Lynndee’s arrival here so it was most likely an anniversary mention of the Obama’s visit. Nonetheless, that planted the seed in Lynndee’s mind that we must definitely check the place out. That we finally did on what could be considered another extra special occasion, extra special due to the circumstances surrounding it.
The #1 special thing about this day was that it was my birthday. But the extra-special part was that it occurred 30 days, one day short of a month, after I had my near-fatal heart attack, so not only was it a celebration of another year but a celebration of life extended to another year. I’ve already celebrated what I consider my 3rd birthday and will soon be celebrating my official birthday.
But yesterdays celebration was extra special because it was the fourth one after having had the heart attack. So we’re still on that journey to forever together, and Lynndee is doing every thing she can to see that I stay healthy, feeding me good healthy meals and keeping me away from the cigarettes and booze…(“,). So my major vices are now coffee, sweet tea, golf, and Atlanta Braves baseball. As long as she can at least tolerate the golf and baseball, I’m good to go another 100 years! Well…I can dream, can’t I?
