We are going to celebrate another year of my unico hijo or only son soon. So today I decided to honor this young man who is the joy of my life. I am such a proud mom and to call him my son never fails to make me happy.
I’m sharing tidbits of him whom we fondly called Yogi. Yep, that’s his nickname. And in school he was known as Yogi too until he started high school. They call him by his real first name now. I think that’s how it is all the time, right? We outgrow our nickname and want to be called by our given name.
- He was born 6. lbs 14 oz. on a late afternoon through normal delivery.
- He was only three-years-old when his Dad passed away.
- He went to Montessori School in the Philippines from pre-school to half of 2nd grade.
- He started half of 2nd Grade here in the U.S to continue what he didn’t finish in the Philippines.
- He was inducted into the Junior Beta Club in 5th Grade.
- He was chosen and was added to the Warrior Wall of Fame in 5th Grade.
- He volunteered as a Bell Ringer for the Salvation Army.
- He volunteered to the MANNA Food Bank.
- He played soccer from 5th Grade until Middle School and made it to the Middle School soccer team.
- He was in the Music Band from 5th Grade to Middle School and played the trumpet.
- He loves art and was chosen as one of the special art students in elementary.
- He loves to travel.
His Favorites
- Percy Jackson. Other than watching all the movies, we also got him all the books.
- Transformers. I’ve already lost track of how many times we’ve watched the movies over and over again on TV although we’ve already seen them on the big screen.
- The Avengers. He loves those superheroes and we’ve made sure to watch these movies on the big screen too and not just on PPV.
His interests has shifted now that he is in high school and so far, so good. We are just here to support him every step of the way. For as long as we know he loves and enjoys what he’s doing and he’s still on the right path, then we’ve got his back.
Wishing and praying for this young man all the happiness the world has to offer and the success that he dreams of accomplishing in the future.

This is why I blog to have these type of memories just for my kids. Something they can always look back on
Your son sounds like an awesome kid. It must have been hard to lose his dad at such a young age.
I read all the Percy Jackson books when I was a school principal. I had a lunch book club and we met once a week in my office. One group wanted to read the whole series, so we did.
You have a wonderful son! Congratulations! And I wish him a lot of good luck!
