First off, I would like to apologize for the photos. I didn’t take my Canon DSLR because I was still learning the tricks in using it so I only used my iPhone for these. I didn’t realize that some of them were blurry until I downloaded them on the PC. But I think regardless of them being blurry, you would still find them mouth-watering. 😉
Anyway, Hubby celebrated his nth (sorry, can’t divulge his little secret) birthday recently and together with our son, his daughter and her fiance’, we went to a Japanese restaurant here in the city named Wasabi. Hubby is a fan of Japanese food. I actually remember him looking for a Japanese restaurant when he visited me for the first time in the Philippines. And I do love Japanese food as well. Does that come with being an Asian? 🙂
So why do we love Japanese food? Let us count the reasons!
1) Sushi. The freshness of raw seafood dipped in Wasabi is just so appetizing. What more with rice in it?! I don’t like my food so spicy so only a little Wasabi for me. But for the hubs, the hotter, the better! And raw seafood reminds me so much of my home.
3) Miso Soup. Although the hubs is not much of a tofu fan, I am. For me, it’s really delicious. And I love the fact that it’s totally healthy. And though hubby loves the Miso taste, his favorite soup is homemade vegetable, Mom-style.
4) Fried Rice. Rice is a staple food in my home country, the Philippines, and there is no day in my existence that I don’t have rice; love it steamed as well. Hubby has learned to love rice since he met me; well, at least he will eat it when served. 😉
6) Shrimp, and Vegetable Tempura. The crispiness of these battered and deep fried goodies are something that shouldn’t be missed! Of all Japanese, this is the husband’s most favorite. He loves the crunchy deep-fried batter.
7) Hibachi Dinner. Anything grilled is sumptuous for us. And this grilled shrimp with vegetables seasoned with sake, soy sauce, salt and pepper was my entree’ and my tummy couldn’t have been more happier.
The birthday man also chose a Hibachi dinner. But he had this rib-eye steak with vegetables seasoned with sake, soy sauce, salt and pepper.
‘Twas really a wonderful night with good food for us!
Do you love Japanese food?

I absolutely love Japanese food. I also love Thai, Chinese, Korean… If it’s Asian, I love it. The flavors are so interesting, and it’s a very healthy approach to food, as well.

That looks delicious! I need to find a good Japanese restaurant in my area.
We love Japanese food at our house and going to a Japanese restaurant is such a nice treat. We love anything tempura, Yum, now I am craving Japanese food.
Oh you and me both! I love Japanese food! I wish there were more places around here to get it!
My husband really likes Japanese food. There’s a new restaurant here that opened that we will be trying for sure.
I don’t eat Japanese food as much as I used to, there’s really not a lot of places to eat around here. But all these pictures look so good.
Fortunately, we have a lot of restaurants here in the city offering different cuisines. 🙂
I’ll be honest. I’ve ever had Japanese food. II’m not sure why I just never felt the need to, but I’m very picky with foods. I’ve been more open lately so I may have to give some a try!
Japanese food is my favorite! Sadly it’s hard to find good Japanese food here in the US :
I mean, it’s tasty, just not authentic.
I love Japanese food too! I can eat chicken fried all day long.
We absolutely love Japanese food as well! I especially love golden cobra rolls and unagi! Some people are weary of unagi, but I just love it!
Gosh – I just love Japanese food myself, too. I think.. I dont know anyone who doesnt haha!
Yum, yum, yum! Everything looks so good. I also love fried calamari, I always order it when I go out to eat. The tempura looks great too.
I am very picky about the food I like to eat, but fried rice has a way with me. We have japanese food at least three times a month and that doesn’t seem like enough for me.
I love just about all Japanese food. We live way out in the country now though, and have to drive about an hour and a half to find good sushi. Bummer.
I’m definitely a japanese food lover. From the sushi to the ginger salad dressing to the miso soup….mmmmmm, yummmm.
