If the Winter Lights at the North Carolina Arboretum will not put you in the Christmas spirit, then I don’t know what would. 🙂
This is their 6th year of having the lights at the arboretum and I have been wanting to see them. We’ve been to the arboretum before when they had this exhibit which was in the daytime. So I have been imagining how gorgeous the place would look like with all the twinkling lights at night.
The lights sure did not disappoint although after an hour of walking through the arboretum, we got cold because the temp was in the 40s. We did grab us a cup of hot cocoa which you can either get at the cocoa shack or at the restaurant.
The photos below don’t do justice to the beauty the Christmas lights bring to the arboretum. I used my iPhone to capture these images and I’m not at all a pro photographer. But at least it gives you an idea of the lights. These are not all the lights, though. There were more, but these are all I captured. My son took photos too, but it’s taking him forever to send them to me so I’ll just share mine.
Enjoy the lights! 🙂
Can you tell I was freezing here? 🙂 We still had not grabbed hot cocoa at this time and we actually just barely started walking through the arboretum.
That’s my son on the left taking shots and that’s my husband on the right mesmerized by the lights.
Those lights hanging on the trees were synchronized to music. They changed colors and danced to the rhythm of the music.
See those igloos in the background? They have games inside that you can play for free. We waited for a while to get a chance to get inside, but we didn’t get lucky. But we did play tic tac toe which was placed beside one of those igloos.
We saw this lighted gown that looked like a headless human on our way back. It actually looked a little creepy to me. LOL.
Finally, we checked a room inside the building and saw these bonsai trees with lights on them. They looked like little Christmas trees. So cute!
There you have it. Do you have something like this in your area?

This is so nice to be able to walk through and see them. We have Christmas lights at a park near me, however, it’s a drive-through thing. It would be pretty cool if walking was an option though.
