What a year 2019 was for us! We didn’t have our usual summer vacation, but we were able to accomplish goals and even have this important thing materialize which wasn’t in our plan for the year to begin with. The feeling was amazing and I couldn’t be more thankful and grateful.
Other than doing recaps every month all throughout the whole year, it’s also fun for me to look back on the year that was. I made a post looking back on 2018 and here’s the one for 2019.
January
I always start the year creating goals so I can focus. I have crossed out a lot of goals on my list last year and I am happy about it. I am going to make a list and share my goals for this year here soon.
Discovering a new Asian Market that offers fresh seafood was delightful. Calamari is my son’s favorite appetizer and I shared a crispy-fried calamari recipe here.
This artwork is just one among the amazing artwork that my son did in school last year. He has always had this talent and I am such a proud Mom.

February
The love month is the most celebrated month over here. Other than Valentine’s Day, this is the month that we also celebrate our Wedding Anniversary, as well as Hubby’s birthday. The photo below was taken on our Wedding Anniversary lunch date last year at one of our fave restaurants here in the city.

March
We celebrate our son’s birthday in this month, something we always look forward to other than the smell of spring and the flowers and trees starting to show their buds and blooms.
Have you tried the famous Filipino Adobo yet? How about the Mahi-mahi with asparagus? They’re all good!
And that sticky love note always gets me.

April
We make sure to help the environment as much as we can so I shared the simple things that we do to help protect it.
That sunny-side-up egg with baby spinach and arugula is still one of my most favorite breakfast meals ever.

May
The month that we celebrate the wonderful Moms out there. My husband and son never fail to make me feel loved and special on this day.
We also shared the movies that never gets old for us. And I shared one of my most favorite side dishes too.

June
We celebrated the man of the house on Father’s Day and he was a happy camper.
I love avocado and I scoured the net for some delicious avocado smoothies. Yum!

July
Asheville has a lot of fun things to do on the 4th of July. The Hubs and I headed downtown, not to watch the fireworks display, but to buy my favorite funnel cake.
It’s grilling season and steak is our fave to grill. What’s yours?

August
It’s back to school for our son and our back-to-school routine had changed, but we’re liking it.
I make sure that our son doesn’t miss breakfast everyday. I also don’t want him to be eating the same thing over and over again. Good thing, I found some breakfast ideas that are kid-approved.

September
Happy Birthday to me! Yep, this month we celebrate me! 🙂
This month also starts my favorite season among the four seasons, fall.
It was also this month that I discovered the heart-warming and amazing letter that my son’s sweet teacher sent him.

October
Becoming naturalized U.S. Citizens is absolutely the highlight of 2019. It wasn’t even in our plans or goals to do it last year. I just thought about it around May.
I love our native cuisine and I shared Filipino recipes that you must try too.

November
Me and my son celebrated our 9th year of being in the U.S. and our 10th year of celebrating Thanksgiving.. We arrived a couple of days before Thanksgiving in 2010.
Fall is my favorite among the four seasons and although the foliage was not as vibrant this year, we were still able to enjoy some beautiful fall colors.
I had a movie date with my boys too. It was a great film.
December
It’s the most wonderful time of the year and my favorite season of all.
There are a lot of fun things to do in Asheville during the holidays. We got to enjoy a quality family time while walking through the arboretum and enjoying the Christmas lights.
We didn’t have a white Christmas like we did in 2010, but it’s okay because we have more Christmases to celebrate.

Another year had ended as well as another decade. 2019 was a great year, and I must say, the decade was generally great too despite the Hubs’ heart attack in 2016 and losing my Mom in 2018. Life has its ups and downs, but the most important thing is how you bounce back.
I am praying and hoping that 2020 will be another amazing year and so too this decade.
Cheers to us all!
