I don’t do resolutions, but I make a list of goals for the year. I did it last year and I must say that I’m happy about how much I accomplished from my 2019 goals.
House & Home
I was able to cross off the list the failed 2018 goals that I make a point to do in 2019 like:
- Paint the bathrooms
- Update the kitchen
I even painted the front and back doors too which were not on the list. And we also got us a new electric range.
For this year, here’s my goals:
- Paint the bedrooms, living and dining rooms.
- Update and organize the closets.
- Update the flooring (we might need pro help for this).
- Organize the kitchen cabinets and fridge.
- Get a new dishwasher (it would be nice to have one that would match our new range).
I will start doing the painting in the spring…as soon as it gets a little warmer.
Personal
Okay, where did I or we fail?
Well, I don’t think I ever got to drink eight glasses of water every single day. Sigh, why is it so hard to do?
And we still failed in the exercise department.
But if there’s a will, there’s a way. So, we’ll continue to push ourselves. I actually bought the Hubs a fitness tracker for Christmas and we’re planning to really do the real walking in the spring.
For this year, here’s our goals:
- Walk, walk, walk…at least 10,000 steps or as much as we can.
- Drink, drink, drink…water, that is.
- Read, read, read…not just recipes, but also books. LOL. This goal is only for me because the Hubs reads everyday.
I am still going to continue with the things that I continue to b e succesful at because they’re life changing like meal planning and eating healthier. And continue to work hard on the blog or the things that I enjoy and love doing.
Do you make a list of goals too? What are your goals for 2020?

Thank you, Cait! Good luck on your goals as well.
Such smart goals for the New Year. Reading more is one I will have to do as well. Exercise is also a lifestyle goal.
It’s amazing what a new paint color can do to freshen up a room. It sounds like you’re on the right track with your 2020 goals! I want to see before and after pics soon!
I like the idea of doing goals rather than resolutions – I don’t do resolutions either, as I always manage to give up. However, goals I can do – something to work towards rather than just suddenly change and do.
Good luck with your goals. I always try to hit 10000 steps a day. Some days are better than others!
Goals are so important. Goals help us see why we’re working today and help keep motivation high. Glad you shared some of your 2020 goals.
I haven’t set any goals for these years yet but I already have some in mind. Love that you accomplished some on your list!
I’m a big goal setter especially for now a new year and decade. We just moved so a I have a lot of projects to get finished this year.
I always adjust my goals each year as well. My personal goals are in line with yours. I need to drink more water and definitely get back to doing 10k steps per day.
I haven’t necessarily come up with any goals. But it is something that I really need to do. Last year, I set a goal to hit 9k pageviews by the end of the year. I hit that but it hasn’t stayed above that goal yet. I’ll push to stay on track for growth. I’ve also got a few other projects to start.
I love making goals instead of resolutions. Because you can make them big or small on how you need to work around life. Because life changes. I think it’s important to push ourselves a little, but not too much where we fail.
Amen to that! 🙌
Fantastic! I don’t do resolutions either. I use a bullet journal so the beginning has my First Quarter goals and I get great joy checking them off.
Using a bullet journal sounds like a great idea, Lizzie.
I am happy that you have full filled your goals last year. I too don’t make any resolutions as I won’t able to finish it. Hope you will able to finish all the goals of 2020.
I prefer goals over resolutions and I think this is awesome! You’ve done so much last year! I’m sure it feels rewarding.
You have totally inspired me to check in on my goals after I wrote them down. What a great exercise.
