Grilled steak is one of our favorites to prepare during the summer paired with either baked potato or au gratin scalloped potatoes with oven-roasted asparagus. And if you want to go old-school you can do mashed potatoes, which my Hubby uses the instant mashed potatoes, claiming they’re as good as the real thing. I’ve shared grilled steak recipes here before, trying different methods.
We always have those delish steaks, either NY Strip or Rib-eye, grilled. I sure never thought of pan-seared steak until I saw the dish that Andrea or Nashville Made prepared and shared on Instagram. And this is what it is minus some ingredients, but it is still delicious and has become one of our favorites.
We chose the thin NY strip steak because they cook quickly. Besides, a big thick steak is more than enough for my little tummy. But you can have the thick ones if you prefer.
And since I am the only one who likes broccoli over here, I usually don’t cook much. I just prepare what is enough for me.
Here’s the recipe for you to try.
Ingredients:
- 3 thin NY strip steaks
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup broccoli florets
- 1 cup grape tomatoes
- salt
Instructions:
- Sprinkle all sides of the steak with salt.
- Heat oil in pan in medium heat.
- Sear steaks until cooked (my son and I like ours well-done, the Hubs likes his medium-rare).
- Add the butter and garlic.
- Spoon the melted butter over the steaks for 2 minutes.
- Remove the steaks from the pan and add the broccoli and tomatoes.
- Cook until the broccoli is done. About 4 minutes.
- Slice the steaks and serve hot.
- Enjoy!
Hubby always pairs his with the instant mashed potatoes he loves while my son and I always have this with steamed brown rice.

Yum. I don’t cook steak very often but I do enjoy it once in a while. I typically go for steak fajitas when I do. I’ve got a steak in the freezer that I need to fix.
