Last week, the Governor of North Carolina issued a statewide ‘stay-at-home’ order which will start today, Monday, March 30, and will last at least 30 days.
But even before the Governor declared it, our county had already declared a ‘stay home, stay safe’ order a few days before that.
But even before the county had declared it, we’ve already been staying home to try to stay safe. We shopped for groceries that is good for two weeks and have been busy doing at-home activities to keep ourselves occupied while quarantining.
So what exactly are the activities that kept us busy lately? Here they are:
DIY Projects
We have been really productive when it comes to DIY projects over here. We’re not expert DIY’ers but we tried our best to do it the best way we know how and the best way it satisfies us. And we sure are satisfied with the outcome although we must admit, they are not perfect. But simple things make us happy. 🙂
Below are the things that we have accomplished so far:
- Repainted the master bedroom
- Repainted an old bookshelf
- Installed a closet kit in the master bedroom closet
- Updated faucets in the master bathroom sinks and our son’s bathroom sink
- Installed a new dresser in the master bedroom
House Cleaning
Although I do clean the house regularly, this time, I took the cleaning to a whole new level. You know, like thoroughly cleaning the nooks and crannies that I usually don’t get cleaned regularly. Even wiping the things that we often touch and counters with disinfectant wipes.
Organizing
After installing the closet kit and the dresser, I organized all our clothes and storage boxes and I am so happy to see how everything is organized now. It is so much easier to find things which saves time and makes life a lot easier.
I used the KonMari method in organizing mine and hubby’s drawers in the dresser.
Tending My Flower Garden
We started cleaning my flower garden because a lot of my plants are already sprouting. We have cleaned the backyard flower garden and we’re still not done. We will continue soon.
Watching Films & TV Shows
With the physical activities we do for our DIY projects, we do relax and watch movies and TV shows too. We also need to have our R&R, right? So far we have seen, IT Chapter Two on pay-per-view, Christmas Movies on Hallmark Channel (this is just me), and watched episodes of Wings and Family Ties. The husband had recorded them on our DVR and we still have a lot of episodes to watch.
Online Shopping
We shopped online for all the things that we needed for our DIY projects except for the paints and paint brushes. And soon we are going to try the pick-up service with regards to shopping for groceries. We have not tried it before because we have always preferred picking our groceries at the supermarket ourselves. But with what’s going on now and with at least 19 confirmed cases in our county, and now one death, we have decided to order our groceries online and pick them up.
How about you? Is there any activity you have done lately that you want to share?
Keep safe and stay healthy!

Yup, our stay at home order for Texas is the same. I’ve been staying in and only going out for groceries! I have also worked on getting organized.

We live in Oregon and have been under a ‘shelter in place’ order for the last two weeks. It has been very stressful, especially when my stepkids were here. I’m on crutches due to a leg injury, so I can’t do a ton, but I’ve been trying to organize things and go through stuff. It helps, for the most part. I’ve also been trying to work on my blog more. My computer seems like it’s been possessed because it just hasn’t been functioning properly the past month or so. Maybe I should use the stimulus to order a new computer online. Haha.

These are great things to do while you are home. My friend lives in NC and she has been keeping me posted about how things are going there. We are in Upstate NY and we are also to stay home except for essential travel.

These are all great ideas. I think cleaning is one of the best. It’s the perfect time for everyone to start doing some deep cleaning. I am planning on it when I get caught up on my blog work first.

We’re in for 3 weeks now. It’s a little difficult to get food and essential supplies here. I’ve been watching some series and just enjoying time with the family.

We’ve been doing a lot of yard work since all of this started. We put it off forever, saying we’d do it when we had more time – now we have nothing but time!

Aww.. that’s great! You both don’t have to be DIY experts but you still made use of your time and became productive on some-things at home that needed to be done. Some times I really appreciate this “downtown” the country is under. I’ve been able to accomplish soooo much too while at home. I feel more prepared and ahead now.
