Our son turned a year older last week. He’s now 17 and it’s hard to believe he’s already that old. It sure doesn’t feel like I gave birth to him that long ago.
We planned to go to one of his favorite restaurants to dine-in and celebrate. But that was before COVID-19. The ‘stay home, stay safe’ order by our country as well as the ‘stay-at-home’ order by the NC Governor changed our plans.
But we’re okay with it because we still enjoyed good food in the comfort of our own home.
We started his birthday celebration by opening his presents and then we filled our tummies from the food that we ordered and had delivered to our front door.
We were supposed to order from the restaurant where we were supposed to go beforehand, but they only offer takeout and no delivery. No one wanted to go out to pick up food. LOL. So we ordered from Outback Steakhouse instead because they offer delivery. And it had been a while since we enjoyed their food.
We ordered online and our food was warm when it arrived 40 minutes later. Here’s what we got.

This is a must-have when you decide to go to Outback Steakhouse, for sure.
Kookaburra Wings
Hubby’s choice. He loves chicken wings big time.
Junior Ribs with Sweet Potato
I decided to go with ribs and I chose the kiddie meal because I know for certain that it would be enough for my little storage and I was so right. LOL. I love sweet potato so it was what I had for my side.
Outback Center-Cut Sirloin with Aussie Fries
The birthday boy’s choice. He loves steak and he loves fries.
Chicken Tender Platter with Aussie Fries
But the birthday boys also loves chicken tenders so he ordered this too and fries again for sides. He is definitely a growing boy.
New York-Style Cheesecake with Chocolate Sauce
It’s his birthday so we let him choose his dessert and he opted for this. The chocolate sauce was in a different container and I forgot to put it before I took this picture. 🙂
I had a bite of this and it was delish!
We didn’t order drinks because we have orange juice and sweet tea for the hubs in the fridge.
It was a fun birthday for him although we were confined here at home and the most important thing was celebrating as a family, right?

It stinks that this darn virus is ruining lives. I am hoping to bring some normalcy to my son’s 8th birthday this month.

I love Outback but haven’t been there in ages. My husband’s steaks are fabulous. But we don’t make a blooming onion, so there’s my reason to go!

It sounds like you had a great meal! My daughter’s classmate tested positive for Coronavirus, so the health department had her do two full weeks in mandatory quarantine. Unfortunately it was also her 13th birthday! We tried to make it as special as possible. I hope you had a nice birthday considering the circumstances!
