My turn again to tell the tale of my life’s happenings in this age of COVID-19 lockdown and quarantine.
Those things haven’t affected us in any way whatsoever.
Seeing that Lynndee is a blogger, she’s been working from home since she got here to the U.S.
As for me, having an essential job, working only two days a week, those are the only times I’ve been going out. Other than that, we’ve been staying at home entirely other than to go to the grocery store every-other week.
In the meantime, I’ve been…
Watching…
We just finished viewing a great Netflix series on Netflix, Outer Banks.
It was ten exciting episodes. The only thing about it that disappointed me was the fact that the final episode left you hanging, signifying that it will continue later on.
Another series we just completed was a Spectrum Original, Manhunt, which told the story of Richard Jewell, the security guard who was falsely accused of being the Olympic Park bomber in 1996.
Following that, we watched the Clint Eastwood production Richard Jewell, a movie that told the same story.
Both were excellent works so disregard any of the unfavorable critiques you may have read about them and make your own conclusion.
And just last night I dug out an old DVD and watched one of my all-time faves, The Right Stuff, telling the story of the Mercury Seven, America’s first astronauts.
What prompted me to do that was the death of Anna (Annie) Glenn, wife of the late senator and original Mercury astronaut John Glenn.
And it was the scenes in the movie, touching upon her stutter and her husband’s loving defense of her, that made me want to watch it again.
But what a couple! They were high school sweethearts, married for 73 years until Senator Glenn’s death in 2016. And she was 100 years old, only to sadly die from Covid-19.
The movie was based on the great book of the same name by Tom Wolfe, a truly tongue-in-cheek telling of America’s Cold-War space race, and the movie captured the same spirit of the book.
Reading…
The docudrama Manhunt was based upon a Maryanne Voller’s work of narrative journalism, Lone Wolf, detailing more the life of Eric Rudolph, the actual Olympic Park bomber, rather than documenting the tale of the destruction of Richard Jewell’s life via false accusation of being the culprit as depicted in the ten episode series.
And while looking up the book, I discovered another work by Maryanne Voller, Ghosts of Mississippi, which itself was later made into a fantastic movie telling the tale of a dark south I grew up in, though fortunately I wasn’t in the deep south and never saw the depths of such hatred and racism.
So I’ve been totally wrapped up in my love of books and history as of late.
Looking Forward To…
Just as my Anghel Wifey said in her last Currently, I’m anxious to get back to our DIY projects.
We’ve accomplished quite a few fix-‘er-ups but still have quite a few in mind.
But first on my list of to-dos is once again, get the yard mowed!
Due to weather, I just recently got it mowed for the first time this season, and since that time, the weather has reared its ugly head again with constant rain, and if it doesn’t abate soon, I’ll once again have a jungle awaiting me.
So wish me luck, and some sunshine!

As for me, it wasn’t just reading about them, but realizing I had lived through those times.
I really enjoyed reading this post. You’ve read some really interesting books.
Thanks, Tasheena. It certainly was truly interesting to revisit times I had lived through, seeing them through the eyes of another.
We haven’t seen that on Netflix. I will add it on our list!
We are about to start that Netflix series. We have been watching probably too much Netflix lately 🙂
We’ve just started watching Outer Banks. I want to see the Right Stuff again, it’s been years. Last week we watched Top Gun on our big outdoor screen.
You just gave me some new suggestions for some new movie to watch! Thanks for sharing!
