A couple of days ago, I decided to bake bread again and this time I decided to bake home-style Filipino Spanish Bread.
Like the previous breads that I baked and shared here on the blog, it is one of my favorite breads and it was the first time that I’ve baked it.
Filipino Spanish Bread is one of the most popular and favorite breads in the Philippines which can be found in most bakeries.
Back in my hometown, as I mentioned before, I had never tried baking bread. We always just bought bread at the bakery. I only began baking after I arrived here in the U.S., especially since I received the high-tech mixer from my son on Mother’s Day.
The recipe calls for 18 to 20 pieces. I decided to make them bigger so I only made 8.
This bread has a sweet filling which I like. I have a sweet tooth so breads with sweet fillings appeal to me big time.
There’s nothing more satisfying than freshly baked bread. I immediately ate one as soon as it got out of the oven…even though it was hot. Yum!
We always have our bread paired with coffee in the morning or with juice and other beverages for snack either around mid-morning or in the afternoon. Totally different than what they do here in the U.S. because they have their bread paired with meats, stew or soup, and especially with gravy.
Here’s the recipe that I followed in case you want to make some, too.
Anything you’ve baked lately? I would love to know. Feel free to share it in the comments below.
Happy Foodie Friday, friends!

I haven’t tried making breads yet. It always seemed complicated. I know there are certain steps that you have to take when using yeast. I’ve made cupcakes and other goodies that I thought I never could do like these Frozen 2 cupcakes.
