The other day, I mentioned that we went to Charleston, South Carolina to celebrate my birthday. And on the date of my birth, we started our day by having breakfast at First Watch. We don’t have this restaurant here in our city.
Our son was the one who told us about it. His friend from Richmond, Virginia, told him about it. And if not for the pandemic still going on during his trip to Virginia, they would have sampled the restaurant.
The hotel that we stayed at is located in Mount Pleasant Town Center. On our first night, we walked around the town center trying to find a restaurant to have dinner and came across First Watch and decided to have our breakfast there the following day.
Antique doors and window suspended from the ceiling. How’s that for a decor? The restaurant has this adorable rustic and antique decor all together.
Apparently, this restaurant is popular because it was pretty packed when we arrived. But although it was pretty packed, the tables were kind of distanced apart so social distancing was fine.
They have a good selection of breakfast, brunch and lunch options on their menu; not to mention, healthy options, at that. All the dishes offered were on the healthy side. So, what did we fill our tummies with? Here they are!
Chile Chorizo
The hubs’ choice. It had chorizo, avocado, green chilies, roasted onions, and Cheddar and Monterey Jack in it. Then it was topped with sour cream and served with a side of pico de gallo and their version of home fried potatoes.
Frittata Rustica
My choice. It was a classic Italian-style omelet with kale, roasted Crimini mushrooms, onions and tomatoes, and topped with Mozzarella and Parmesan cheese. It was served with ciabatta toast.
Eggs Benedict
Our son’s choice. It was two poached eggs atop a toasted ciabatta piled with bacon, tomato, avocado and arugula. It was covered with hollandaise, and served with lemon dressed organic mixed greens.
Recently, my son had been bugging me to make Eggs Benedict so he was delighted to find it on the menu.
Those look good, too but we didn’t order them because there was no room left in our tummies. Heck, I didn’t even get to eat all my frittata.
We definitely enjoyed our food. Now how I wish we also have a First Watch branch here in our city of Asheville.
Have you eaten at First Watch before?
Happy Foodie Friday, friends!

Those meals are so nice and they could last me the whole day to complete those great portions. I would love to start a day with a meal like that.

I love how that restaurant looked but I like the food even more. Breakfast in restaurants is always fun, especially if it’s a date.
