And my story about our trip to Charleston, South Carolina for my birthday continues. Today, I’m going to share about our time at Shem Creek.
If you have missed my previous stories, here you go. We had dinner at P.F. Chang’s on our first night. Then the following day, we started out with a delicious breakfast at First Watch. Then we headed to the beautiful Boone Hall Plantation and Gardens where we spent most of the day.
The next day, we checked a museum which I’ll be sharing about on Monday. Then after spending most of the day there, we headed to Shem Creek to fill our hungry tummies.
The hubs and I watched the series, “Outer Banks” on Netflix and when I found out that this was where they filmed some of the scenes, I knew we should check the area out.
This place has great waterfront views. There are a lot of restaurants to choose from and we opted for Vickery’s Bar & Grill because it was the closest restaurant from where we parked. And it wasn’t a bad choice at all. We ate at the deck overlooking the river and we even saw dolphins while we were having dinner. That was exciting, for sure.
Here are the delicious southern food that we enjoyed.
Fried Calamari
Of course, if they have it, my son had to order it. And that’s because it’s his favorite appetizer of all time. It was served with marinara sauce.
Chicken Wings
My husband’s wings. Is it an American guy thing or what? 🙂
Pesto & Parmesan Encrusted Salmon
You know how I love salmon. 🙂 This was topped with a roasted garlic cream sauce and served with mashed potatoes and green beans. Such a huge serving. I brought the leftovers to the hotel.
Southern Fried Chicken Tenders
My son also got to have his chicken. He would eat chicken every single day. Even multiple times a day. The chicken tenders were hand breaded and served with mashed potatoes, pepper gravy and collards.
My Boys
Those buildings behind the hubs are restaurants. And there’s the river where we saw the dolphins.
My son can be shy at times. 🙂
There was a boardwalk down below where you can just take a stroll and enjoy the beauty of the water and the marsh.
That was such a great time at Shem Creek to end the day.
Happy Foodie Friday, friends!
