My son loves spam big time. I’m not a big fan of canned goods. I’m not a big fan of fried foods as well. But I do have me a couple of slices when we have it and although I’m not a fan of fried foods, when it comes to spam, I usually just fry it. That’s how we have always done it, even back in my hometown. I did prepare it with eggs before. See my Spam and Eggs recipe.

Last week I thought of using the air fryer instead and I must say, I totally preferred it over oil-fried. It’s not greasy at all and it still comes out the same way as if it was fried in oil.

Here’s how I did it.

Ingredients:

• 1 can (12 oz) Spam (We always get the 25% Less Sodium)

Instructions:

1. Preheat air fryer to 400°F.
2. Cut spam into 8 equal slices.
3. Place slices into the air fryer in a single layer.
4. Cook for 5 minutes and then flip for 5 more.
5. Enjoy!

Here’s how the spam looked like, fresh from the air fryer. You just have to slice them evenly so they would cook good and not burn the sides.

Also, I do two batches so as not to overcrowd the spam in the air fryer. That’s the trick about cooking in the air fryer. Don’t overcrowd the food inside so they cook evenly.

I haven’t fried food in a long time because I have been using my air fryer a lot. For me, air frying food is definitely way better than frying it in oil. This is the air fryer that I have which I got as gift from the hubs on Christmas in 2020.
