Our son flew to Miami a few days ago to meet-up with his pro-gamer buddies and after we took him to the airport, the hubs and I decided to have an empty-nest date night.
We’d never been to this restaurant before, but I’d heard it was one of the best in Asheville. It’s located in the west part of the city and after learning that they serve breakfast all day, I knew I’m going to have breakfast for dinner. 🙂
The name of the restaurant is Sunny Point Cafe and I must say, it lives up to its name. The decor is fun and unique. And the different colors they used gave the place that “sunny” vibe.
So here are the goodies we filled our hungry tummies with.
Orange Juice
If they offer orange juice, that’s what I would get, and so it was. If my son was around, he’d order orange juice, too.
Old Fashioned Cocktail
The hubs decided to give this cocktail a try; he’d never had one before. I had a sip and well, it was an interesting taste. It has bourbon in it, but the hubs said he couldn’t even taste the bourbon, that it was more of a sweet, girly drink. But, then again, back in his wild and crazy days, he was mostly a shot with a beer-chaser guy. But no more, since I calmed him down. 🙂
Pecan Crusted Fried Green Tomato Appetizer
I have always enjoyed having green tomatoes dipped in soy sauce with calamansi (Philippine Lime or Philippine Lemon). This appetizer is something I’d never tried before so I was glad when the hubs ordered it. It was delish! It was served with goat cheese and roasted red pepper aioli.
Wakin’ and Bacon Burger
The hubs’ plate. It is beef cheeseburger with bacon, arugula, tomato jam and scallion aioli. He had spuds as side.
Southern Omelette
My breakfast dinner. Yum! The omelette was filled with pimento cheese, chopped fresh tomatoes and bacon. Then I had croissant as side and also grits. I actually ordered fruits and I don’t know why they gave me grits. But I just didn’t bother to complain because I was hungry. LOL.
It was an absolute fun date night with sumptuous food. Now I know why they are considered to be one of Asheville’s best restaurants.
Happy Foodie Friday, friends!
