When I asked my husband what he wanted to eat on Father’s Day, he quickly replied, “A Chili Dog!” So I browsed the web for the best Hot Dogs in the area and came across the restaurant called Five Guys. I told my husband about the restaurant and he liked what he saw on the menu so that was where we ordered a takeout on Father’s Day.
Well, thing is, the branch where we ordered don’t offer chili. It was too late to order from another restaurant so we continued with the plan and the hubs just bought him a can of chili from a nearby supermarket after he picked up the order. He still enjoyed it so there’s that.
Here are the things that we had.
Little Fries
Both the hubs and my son ordered their little fries. They were freshly made boardwalk-style fries. They were cut fresh and cooked twice and were firm on the outside and mashed potatoey on the inside.
Hot Dog
My husband’s hot dog. It’s an all-beef hot dog that was grilled and with grilled onions as a topping.
Cheeseburger
I decided to have their burger. It’s American-style cheese melted between fresh patties and placed on a toasted sesame seed bun with mayo, ketchup, grilled onions and grilled mushrooms as toppings.
Bacon Cheese Dog
Our son’s hot dog. It’s an all-beef hot dog with American-style cheese on top. It also has a layer of apple-wood smoked bacon, and with grilled onions and mustard as toppings.
The food doesn’t look so appetizing in these photos but we enjoyed them. And the father that we celebrated certainly enjoyed the food he was craving. He was more than satisfied.
He opened his gifts after dinner and was a happy camper. I got him books and a pair of slides (the ones that I shared HERE) and an Atlanta Braves baseball cap (to add to his collection).
How about you? How did you celebrate Father’s Day?
Happy Foodie Friday, friends!

Sounds like my husband, he didn’t want anything special for dinner on Father’s Day, so we grilled hotdogs and burgers, and gifted him his gifts. I bet the food was tasty!

That is unfortunate that the five guys branch didn’t have that menu item available. Though, I have found that when I’m craving a chili dog, and I’m not sure if you have either of these or if it’s just local to the area/surrounding states, Sonics and Portillo’s have offered them… and I don’t know if it’s just nostalgia or because it’s part of the experience but I honestly prefer the Sonic chili dogs over Portillo’s but just in case I’d still recommend trying one from both!!

We didn’t know they have it at Sonics. We’ll check it out. Thanks for the info!

It has been a long time since I’ve had their food. I enjoy it but it’s a bit greasier than I like.
