This was our main purpose of going to Toccoa, Georgia on Memorial Day weekend. Before we headed to Toccoa Falls, which turned out to be an unexpected awesome trip, we checked this one first.
Hubby is into civil wars, its history and everything that has something to do with the military. He has gotten my son into it too. So basically, the trip to the museum was also an educational trip for the little one. But I was amazed myself of what I’ve discovered about their history. The things that were displayed in the museum were simply astounding. Unfortunately, flash photography was not allowed, thus, I only have these to share.
The exterior of the museum. See my little one?
This was located in the receiving area. I was allowed to take photos in that area.
Are you familiar with the HBO miniseries, Band of Brothers? You might wonder why it is there. To tell you, Currahee Mountain was where the boys were trained before they were sent to combat. Watch the miniseries and you will hear it mentioned many a times.
The husband knows everything about it, and if not for him, I wouldn’t know it. And speaking of the mountain, it was our next destination. Yup, we actually drove the dirt road just to reach the top of Currahee Mountain. I’ll talk about it next.
