I didn’t tell any of my friends back in my hometown that I was coming for a one-month vacation. I just wanted it to be a surprise. So when one of my good friends saw my post that I was there, she messaged me and we chatted.
Her name is Lilet and we’ve been friends since we were colleagues in a telecommunication company more than 25 years ago. We were actually schoolmates back in high school, but we were not friends then.
She was my maid of honor in my wedding to my son’s father (he’s deceased). She was also one of my son’s godmothers, and I am also the godmother to one of her daughters. We have shared so many special moments together.
She is one of the sweetest and thoughtful persons that I know. I will never forget this one moment when I was pregnant with my son. I was craving for lechon (roasted pig); just the crispy skin, specifically. My husband was working then so I texted her if she could find it for me. It was already around 8 o’clock in the evening, and I was worried there would be none available at that time, but she delivered. She really made sure to find me what I was craving for. Now if that is not being a really good friend, then I don’t know what is. And that was just one of those wonderful things that she did for me.
And she did it again during our recent vacation. She dropped by one day and and brought me a delicious surprise… pancit palabok. She also brought me palitaw but I totally forgot to take a picture of it. She knew that I can’t find these delicious dishes in America so she made sure to bring me some to satisfy my cravings. I did prepare pancit palabok before and shared it here on the blog, but that one didn’t have all the goodies like this one had.
Look at that! Now I’m hungry just staring at it.
And there we were! This photo was taken in December of 2008. We didn’t get to have our picture taken when she paid me a visit recently because we were so caught up in catching up. So, I just have to share an old picture of us. We were with our colleagues this time for a get-together dinner. The company that we worked for already closed and we were just hanging out to catch up. Such fun memories to remember.
So grateful and thankful for good friends. Though we may never see each other as much as we want being half-a-world apart, we know that the friendship is there and will always be there, wherever in the world we may be.

How awesome! That’s what you call a true friend! You don’t have to see each other every day but the moment you do it’s like you can pick up where you left off and still have the best of times!
