A couple of days after the wedding, my niece’s friend headed back to her hometown. She was one of the bridesmaids and she flew in a few days before the wedding, and stayed a couple more days afterwards. They met in college at the University of the Philippines Mindanao which is located in Davao City, and they continued to be good friends even though they live in two different cities.
So for her last night in the city, my brother-in-law decided that we all eat out. And they took us to this place that we’d never been before. This place which was located on top of a hill wasn’t open yet when we were there almost five years ago. And it was such a nice place with amazing nighttime views of my hometown, and delicious food at that. The place is called Hill VI.
The View
My hometown beautifully lit up at night. The Hub said this view reminded him of going to the top of Beaucatcher Mountain in Asheville, North Carolina, and gazing down on the city, though Asheville is roughly a quarter of the size of GenSan.
Some trees were lit up as well.
This is the view from our table. The breeze that night was also cool – perfect to enjoy a meal without the usual heat and humidity. And as you can see, we had already devoured the food.
The Food
My brother-in-law ordered a lot of delicious Filipino food. Now if only I could have them again right here, right now. LOL.
Sweet & Sour Pork
Chicken Adobo
Pancit Bihon
Calamari
Mixed Vegetables
Sinigang na Hipon
Fried Tilapia
Family & Friends
Look at all the smiles on our faces before we all dug in and enjoyed all the sumptuous food on the table. We were happy before the meal, and we were extra-happy after the meal. 🙂

This restaurant is located in my hometown in the Philippines, not in Asheville. 😊
What an incredible view of your hometown from that restaurant! There is nothing like the food we grew up with, right?
You are so right, Lori. 😊
The view and food look amazing. It reminds me of a dinner I had with the in-laws overlooking Firenze years ago!

I am loving the look of the food you tried. I recently discovered glass noddles which seem to be in the Pancit Bihon. Those are great. I’d love to try that dish. The calamari is always a winner with me and I love mixed veg, yum!
