And for the last part of that day with Lewis, we went out for dinner to our favorite Mexican restaurant in the city, Papa’s & Beer.

If you’re new here and don’t know the story, we spent a day with my husband’s best friend Lewis back in June. He was on a trip here in the U.S. from the Philippines and, just like his previous trips to town, we always have a get-together.

We started the day with a road trip to parts of North Carolina and Tennessee. We then grabbed lunch at this restaurant called Trust Cafe. They also have a General Store where Lewis got me an early Christmas present. After fueling ourselves, we drove to Max Patch mountain and hiked to the summit of Max Patch.

So what did we have at the Mexican restaurant? Here you go!

Chips & Salsa

Sweet Tea

The hubs and Lewis’ drinks. This is my husband’s drink of choice every time.

Orange Juice

And this is the drink that I prefer.

Chicken Tropical Salad

This was what Lewis ordered. It had romaine lettuce, fruit relish, cheese, roasted pepitas and tortilla strips in it. And it was tossed with vinaigrette. I it also had some guacamole on top.

Beef Enchiladas

This is my husband’s favorite Mexican food of all time. It was served with rice and re-fried beans and salad.

Tropical Salmon

And here’s mine. The salmon had mushrooms and all those other goodies in it. And it was served with rice and beans. So good!

We all enjoyed our food, the company and the conversation. It’s always a good day with Lewis and it sure was a good day for Mexican food.
