I love tuna. Growing up, we would always have tuna for lunch or dinner prepared in different ways. And our tuna is always fresh from the bay. If you don’t know yet, my hometown is actually the Tuna Capital of the Philippines.
You can actually see fresh whole tuna fishes in different species that just came out of the bay at the GenSan Fish Port every single day. It has been a destination for tourists because it is a fascinating sight to see. Some of the tuna reaches up to 2 meters in length and weighs up to 200 lbs.
Although we have different kinds of tuna dishes that I have enjoyed eating growing up, this has been the first time that I’ve prepared this air fryer wild tuna.
Funny thing was, this was leftover tuna and when I saw them in the freezer, I thought they were pork chops. LOL. Needless to say, I used wild tuna using an air fryer pork chop recipe with a little tweak, and guess what? They turned out really good.
My husband is not a big fan of tuna, but he enjoyed this one.
Here’s how I prepared it.
Ingredients:
- 3 pieces wild tuna
- Extra virgin olive oil
- 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese, grated
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/8 teaspoon ground pepper
Instructions:
- Preheat air fryer to 390°F and set to 10 minutes.
- Coat wild tuna with olive oil.
- Mix Parmesan cheese, paprika, garlic powder, salt and pepper in a ziploc bag.
- Place wild tuna in ziploc bag and toss until well coated.
- Place coated wild tuna in air fryer and cook, flipping halfway.
- Serve and enjoy!
How about you? Do you like tuna? Have you tried this air fryer wild tuna before?
Happy Foodie Friday, friends!

I’ve never tried air frying fish at all. Doesn’t it make the tuna kind of chewy? But the ingredients seem to be nice so I’ll try this recipe one of these days.

It wasn’t chewy at all. Try it yourself. 🙂
