Belated Happy Valentine’s Day! How was your celebration? I hope it was filled with love and all things sweet.
My husband, as always, aced it again on Heart’s Day. He never fails to surprise me and this time, he totally did it differently. Usually, he would place all the surprises either on our dining table or on the fireplace mantle. This time around, he gave them to me while we were in the car. He is just the sneakiest and the sweetest. Or better yet, the ace of hearts.
Valentine’s Day Chocolates
I can’t remember a Valentine’s Day that he didn’t give me chocolates. There are always chocolates. Yum!
Valentine’s Day Card
And he gave me the funniest card this year. I laughed out loud when I read the word navel. I didn’t know he loves my navel. He wasn’t vocal about it. Hahaha!
He also added a sweet note which is for my eyes only. 😉
Valentine’s Day Food
If you remember, I shared about sampling Cuban comfort food before. But my husband wasn’t home when my son ordered it. So, for Valentine’s Day, I thought it is what we should have so the hubs would also taste its deliciousness.
We ordered two of this Lechon Asado. It comes with rice and black beans. We added another side which were the sweet plantains.
For dessert, we ordered their Coconut Flan. It is creamy vanilla custard with grated coconut soaked in caramel sauce. We have something similar in the Philippines which we call Leche Flan. They’re basically the same but ours just don’t have the coconut on top.
This dessert was so good. Please excuse the blurry photo. I didn’t realize it wasn’t focused enough until I downloaded the image.
We don’t go out to eat on Valentine’s Day anymore because we are very aware of how restaurants are packed. So, we’ve been ordering takeout for years now. But it doesn’t really matter how you celebrate it. For as long as you are with your favorite people. Agree?

It was a special valentine day for me. We don’t go out that much. So, my boys surprised me with chocolate cover pretzels and valentine donuts. I’m so glad your valentine was so special. Thanks for sharing

Your husband has such a thoughtful and creative approach to giving Valentine’s gifts, like when he surprised you in the car this year. I completely agree that however you celebrate the love month, the most meaningful thing is simply being with your significant other.

Happy belated Valentine’s Day to you two too! My Valentine’s Day was lovely and low-key, filled with cute notes left around the house by my husband! I’m glad yours was sweet as well!

Cute card!
The coconut flan looks delicious; I haven’t had flan in years, and the coconut is a nice touch.
