It was a day in the summer of 2013 when my husband surprised me with a birthday trip to the mountain resort city of Gatlinburg, Tennessee. It was my first time to visit the place and I was totally surprised of how such a small city has so much to offer. It was a bustling little city filled with awesome attractions for the whole family to enjoy. It was also a super busy day packed with different people from all walks of life. I’ve talked about this trip here before but I thought of talking about it again for the sake of nostalgia and for the people who have just stumbled upon our blog. 😉
We were just there for a day. We arrived at around 11 o’clock in the morning and left late afternoon to visit another town nearby. That said, we never got the chance to check everything that the city has to offer. We didn’t have enough time, but we made sure to enjoy what we think are the ones that we should not miss.
We checked the Ripley’s Believe or Not! museum first. I’ve also talked about it here before and I might do another post to talk more about it. I used to watch the television show Ripley’s Believe it or Not when I was a kid and up to that time, I was still in awe of those amazing and fascinating facts. Even our son, Yogi felt the same way. More so that it was his first time to have seen Ripley’s. We just passed by this one. The little one is a big fan of dinosaurs so I made sure to take a snapshot of him for remembrance. Aside from attractions, Gatlinburg has a lot of restaurants to satisfy different palates. Mellow Mushroom is only one of them. We didn’t have lunch there though. We opted to have seafood and had it Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. I will have another post about that yummy lunch we had soon.
They’re testing some pellet guns. These two love shooting. There’s Yogi and the bears. Too perfect! 😉 This area was filled with shops and stores, and this is only a part of the many stores they have for the people to go shopping spree.
My husband has a nostalgic link to Gatlinburg. His high school concert band traveled there on his senior band trip and according to him, that trip became legendary. He shared the tale with me but I wouldn’t dare try to tell it. He’ll have to share that one with you, if he dares; as you most likely know about teenagers, boys will be boys. 🙂
It was a beautiful day filled with sunshine so we totally enjoyed walking through the entire city. But on our way home was a totally different scenario. It was already dark when we hit the road and there was a deluge. Thankfully, we managed to arrive home safe and sound.
Have you ever been to Gatlinburg?

This is one of the instances that show that small cities don’t necessarily mean that there’s not much to do around it. One day may not be really enough to explore everything, as there are a lot of attractions in Gatlinburg, Tennessee for the entire family to view and enjoy.
