Tuning our TV to HGTV is one of my favorite things to do. I have a lot of favorite shows on their channel that I continue to watch even though it’s a rerun like Fixer Upper, House Hunters, House Hunters International, etc. One afternoon, I was watching when the HGTV Urban Oasis 2015 teaser was shown. I had no idea that the newest house is located in Asheville. I actually had to click rewind in the zapper just to be sure if I heard it right. Imagine my delight when I confirmed it that it is actually in Asheville, my hometown! Then the local news covered it and so did the local newspaper.
I couldn’t wait to see the house up close and personal. And tagging my boys along, I was finally able to get a glimpse of the beautiful bungalow over the weekend. And there you have it, our soon to be urban oasis. 🙂 Dream on!
Honestly, I’ve been joining HGTV sweepstakes for as long as I can remember. And who wouldn’t want to win such a beautiful house?! I’ve never been lucky enough so far, but I’m continuing my adventures in sweepstakes that always has millions of people joining. Who knows, right? Luck may be upon me one of these days. 😉
There was another family that was checking the house when we arrived. The door was locked so other than peeking in the door, all we could do was adore the outside. The landscape in front of the house is really pretty. Photos of the house are on the HGTV website. Just take a peek there if you want to see how gorgeous the interiors of the house are.
Is it obvious that we are enjoying our nice front porch? Tee-hee. I hope HGTV won’t get mad at us for sitting on the bench. 🙂 Blue is my ultimate favorite color so that outdoor rug is definitely perfect. Another perfect thing about this house is the yard. It’s tiny. That being so, my hubs would not have to do all that mowing and weed eating that he has been doing his entire life living on his childhood homestead. I know that would be a relief to him, and even better, that means he’d have more time to spend with me when he’s home. Does that sound selfish? But of course. The more free time we have together, the better. So here’s hoping! 🙂

Wow, that sounds awesome. I am more of a city girl so I would have to wonder what kinds of wild animals would be roaming around the yard of that house.

Robin, I forgot to mention, this house is located at one of the nice neighborhoods in the heart of Asheville. You might only see bears and cutie little critters from time to time. LOL.
I could definitely see that home as an oasis! It is such a charming little house.
It certainly is, Jennifer. 🙂
It is such a fun and beautiful little house. I hope you get it. That would be amazing for you!
It would definitely be amazing, Mistee. I’d be jumping for joy. LOL.
Yeah we could use this oasis from all the rush and craziness of the weeks. I love the look of it! The color of the house is exactly what I love.
Hey don’t be sitting on my porch and stepping all on my rug! LOL
I’ve been entering HGTV contests for years also, never won, but never know when luck will light upon you right?
Did you see the location for the 2016 Dream House, I just looked at it this morning in fact.
Oh, sorry for sitting on your porch and stepping on your rug, Tracy. LOL. I haven’t seen the location of the 2016 Dream House yet. I didn’t even know that they already have it on their website. I will check it out.
I love the country and local wildlife. So, i would love that house. I love the porch. That is always a good spot to rest.
I don’t think I’ve entered to win this one, but I enter over and over every year. Maybe you’ll win this one and I’ll win the HGTV dream home. 🙂
That is such a cute house! I could totally see my family living in it, too.
Looks like a lovely place to get away from work and just relax. Catch up on writing and reading, I can see myself there too. 😛
That front porch is gorgeous! I’d love to eat dinner out there or just sit and talk with friends and family members.
That looks like a lovely house. Good luck! I hope you get lucky this time.
Looks so peaceful. Hope it all works out for you guys.
I used to enter sweepstakes, but not anymore. The house is so cute and cozy.. Good luck on HGTV swepstakes
I bet it’s so relaxing to stay there. Love the environment too!
This would make an awesomely cute weekend getaway. I could really enjoy that front porch, especially to watch sunrises and sunsets.
I am always torn between choosing to live in the city in the quiet countryside. I love being close to nature, with my own little vegetable garden and flower garden. I love to see the sunrise and sunset from my own porch. However, I would freak out if I am far from a supermarket, a hospital, and the main road. What is a poor girl to do? LOL.
I would love to win that house too! I hope you win it so that I can live vicariously, ha ha!
Love it! It’s a perfect little house to enjoy for years to come. Good Luck with the Urban Oasis! Btw, I watch those shows too. Love it! They have great ideas on changing a property to something better.
What a cute house! Looks so peaceful. I could totally see my family living there.
What a super cute house. I could see living there myself. Thanks for sharing.
I used to join HGTV sweepstakes as well but slowed down. That looks like a peaceful one to nest in.
That’s such a lovely little house! I live in the big city of Toronto right now but would love to someday move back to the country.
What a great space!! I LOVE me some HGTV and it makes me want to spruce up my space every time I watch!
What a beautiful home! It looks like it would fit you and your family nicely <3 that front porch looks very inviting 🙂
I am a city girl through and through. I spent part of my life in a city with 60K + people and another part of it with 40K + people. I now live outside of two small towns in the middle of a corn field. I have one neighbor, but hes a cornfield away. I have been here for 6 years now. And at first, I enjoyed the peace and quiet – except our house faces the highway that connects the neighboring cities. So, as the tourist town next door grows, so does the traffic noise. I miss having neighbors. I miss taking walks on the sidewalk and down to the corner stores. We are hoping to move soon, and I am counting down the days until I can get back to the city.
I like a big yard AND I like a smaller one. It’s nice not to have to do a lot of yardwork.
I have entered for a ton of those HGTV Dream Homes. Who knew there was one just right up the road from me? I guess I will have to enter to win this one! I would really love to win one!
Oh thats such a lovely house! And that rug! I feel like I need it!
This looks like a great place. I love the color of the rug on the front porch.
That is a very nice house. My s/o and I were just talking about moving. We don’t want to be in the country or suburbs, but do want to get out of the city.. Maybe somewhere between country and suburbs.
This is hilarious, I love that you went and checked out the home. Extreme Home Makeover did a home not far from me many years ago. Like you I got in my car and drove over to check it out. I also couldn’t get inside but it was beautiful from the outside.
Super cute home! Definitely a mini oasis!
Fingers crossed this becomes your new home! it is always nice to find a place to make a house a home and be settled!
I like that house. Simple and refreshing. I want to build a house that looks like this. Do you know where can we get a floor plan for this?
I have no idea, Shirgie, but try checking the HGTV website or better yet, message them on Instagram. 🙂
I love watching shows on hgtv. We cut cable so this us something I miss watching from time to time. This is a cute house. In hope you win it. That would be so cool if you did. 🙂
That sounds really cool! I love any kind of home improvement show and would definitely check it out if it came to my town!
Wow so beautiful! Even just from the outside it looks gorgeous! I love watching HGTV but then sometimes I get jealous so I have to turn it off LOL great post!
Awww what a cute little place!!!! Home improvements are always so fun! I’m always looking at stuff on Pinterest and think it would be fun to actually apply some of the home improvement ideas 🙂
How pretty! It’s pictures like that that make me miss living in a house with a yard… I love apartment living, but sometimes I miss having a yard and a porch. Gorgeous!
