It has been a truly amazing year for us.We may not have won the lottery (yet, LOL) , but it was a productive year full of surprises and fun happenings, and we feel so very blessed. And now, I am so excited for what 2015 has in store for us.
And before I get carried away about the coming year, let me take you back to the year that was. As much as I so look forward to what 2015 will bring us, I am also glad to look back on 2014. How can I not look back at such an amazing year?
Travel
We love going on road trips. We didn’t get to do it as much this year compared to the first three years that my son and I were here in the U.S. but still it was great because we still were able to see new places. For our son’s birthday in March, we took him to the Schiele Museum of Natural History and Planetarium in Gastonia, North Carolina.
Then on Memorial Day weekend, we went to Marshall, North Carolina for a history mission. Hubby is so into his genealogy and the trip was to trace his roots.
Hubby also took you down memory lane when he narrated about our 2012 Atlanta summer vacay in parts 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6. That same year, we also visited Baltimore, Maryland and the Antietam Battlefield in Sharpsburg, Maryland. That year was the busiest for us, travel wise. There was also my birthday trip to Lake Lure and Chimney Rock.
I also reminisced about our 2011 trips to the Blue Ridge Parkway, and the White House,
Food
I think you already know by now how I love talking about food. Although you might be surprised of how teeny-tiny and skinny I am when in fact I love food. Kind of ironic, isn’t it?
I’ve been wanting to share recipes and I am so glad I finally got to do it last year. As you can see on my navigation bar, I’ve included a recipe page for easy access.
We also love to eat out on special occasions and it’s always documented. Good thing, the restaurants that we’ve been to didn’t have the no food photo policies. Tee-hee.
Good Reads
If you’ve been following us, you already know that I have a bookworm for a husband. Seriously, guys! I’ve never seen so many books in a house until I got here in the U.S. I have no problems with it though. I am glad actually because he has greatly influenced my son to love reading too. We shared about some great reads like the Bachman Books, Big Driver by Stephen King, end-of-the-world books, the Percy Jackson series for the little one and Chicken Soup for the Soul for me.
Hubby is also a lover of history and he talked about the late Douglas MacArthur in A Man is as Good as His Word.
Family
We love to enjoy some family time. I think family bonding is very important. Actually, grocery shopping is one of our bonding moments. We all go together every Saturday. But aside from that, we love checking out activities that we can enjoy as family. We went apple picking for the first time this year at the nearby town and we also went to a Fall Festival and actually had our first funnel cake ever.
And like a proud mommy, I can’t help but talk about my only son. I think all the mommies out there can relate. I am just so proud of how good and smart he is. He’s 11-years-old and his life surely has been busy since he entered sixth grade. He plays soccer and is a member of the school concert band. He was also inducted into the National Junior Beta Club and as part of that, he made a difference by being a Salvation Army volunteer bell ringer. He’s one busy boy but he is enjoying it immensely.
Blog
This blog has had a big transformation this year. This used to be a travel blog only and we decided to make a revamp and make it a blog that doesn’t only focuses on travel but family, leisure, home and life as a whole. And lo and behold, we surely didn’t expect the big surprise that awaited us after the revamp. We were invited to join the BlogHer Publishing Network and we were definitely over the moon. I was also accepted in another network, Clever Girls Collective. So yes, it has been a great year.
And that sums up everything. Here’s hoping for a productive 2015 as well!
How was your 2014?

Wow, you had an amazing year! Mine was horrible after losing my Dad, MIL and Aunt. I just know 2015 has to be better!
Wow…I didn’t know some restaurants have a no food photo policy…seriously? I mean, I take my pics in public covertly because I don’t want to look like a weirdo, but I had no idea about actually not being able to do it.
Sounds like an eventful year! shockingly we didn’t make it out to, too many festivals this year but we absolutely love funnel cake. I can totally relate to the blessing of a wonderful son congrats on his accomplishments, I too am very proud of my 10 year old who just received a ballet scholarship.
